Urgent need doctor to follow up after overseas surgery

Recommended Posts

I was banded in dominican republic on 08/11/2009. I have already returned to the united states, and my doctor gave me a document explaining the whole procedure and a detailed information about my surgery, fill and everything needed in order i can find a doctor in northern new jersey to follow up with my post-care, can anyone let me know if there is any site/doctor/place, i can visit to obtain my after surgery care here in the united states, especifically in an area of passaic county, new jersey.

Any suggestions and help will be highly appreciate, i am really in need of this information urgently.

Thanks

I am amazed that you didn't sort this out before the surgery. From what I have read on this site a lot of US doctors don't like taking patients that they have not operated on themselves. I would have wanted all my ducks in a row.

Good luck , hope you manage to find someone.

Thank you for your reply, i did in fact research the information, but unfortunately with the excitement of the trip i lost information i have found in lapbandtalk. I will continue researching, as i really need to find this information.

Thank you for giving me the information and the reason i went overseas, was because i was non insured in the united states, and the cost was much less than here. All i am looking forward is if someone can provide aftercare follow up for this type of surgery in northern new jersey.

Thanks again.

Hi Belikita,

Congrats on your banding. Your picture on your "about me" page is great. I wish I had thought of taking a 'before' picture of myself, but most pictures i have are of me hiding behind someone...just face shots.

I wonder if you could get an answer quicker if you also posted your question in the forum "fill doctors"....(or something like that...it's about halfway down the home page of lapbandtalk.

Good luck....and again...congrats !!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
