when i had my surgery on 7/22/09.my band was filled at that time with 3 cc's.i ended up at the dr's office that same night to get Fluid removed from my band because i was in so much pain and getting so sick to the point of dry heaving.ever since then i still have trouble with food.such as eating when i am suppose to and some things getting stuck and i am nauseous a lot.so when i went for my appt on 9/4/09 he filled my band with 2 cc's.now in the mornings i am having trouble eating anything.i just don't have an appetite.as the day goes on it gets a little better, but he wants me to eat every 3 hrs and i just can't do it.i also still can't tolerate the Protein shakes.any suggestions????

What is the problem with the Protein Shakes? Can't keep them down? Have you thinned them with Water. Mix1 is higher in sugar, but it's a thinner brand. Pure Protein is also a bit thinner. If it's been 3 days since your most recent fill and you still can't even take a thin liquid, i would talk to your doctor. Sounds like he/she is being more aggressive than most doctors. In my opinion too aggressive about fills but I'm not a doctor of course. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
