I am getting banded on sept. 24th and I have some questions that are nagging at me. Once you have the band in place, are you able to feel it at all? And how often do you feel nausea??? or vomit??? Do you still feel normal?

Hi!

Since I'm not there quite yet, I understand we don't feel the band.

My surgeon gave me nausea meds pre-surgery. Before and after surgery, make sure and practice sipping. Allow your system to heal with liquids only. Follow your instructions after being banded, and hopefully nausea will be a non-issue. Check the September bandsters site for banders going through the post-op phase.

Thank you, I will go check out the September bandsters. I didn't know that existed. I am just worried but excited at the same time. I just don't want to end up regretting this at all.

I was banded in July and have had no problems of any kind with my band. I can not feel the band but can feel the port. It does not hurt I just know where it is so if I touch there I can feel it. It is the best thing I ever did concerning my weight:rolleyes:

Hi I was banded 8/08 and I don't feel the band but I do feel my port. I can feel the port more as I lose the weight. As for nausea I really don't feel Nausea but I did have issues with vomit a few months ago because I would tend to eat fast. The biggest thing to remember is take small bites and slowly eat and you should be good. This was the best thing I ever did for myself. Best of luck to you on your journey

You can't feel the band. You can only feel your port. I jokingly refer to it as my tumor. The only time I felt nauteous was after my surgery when it was time to drink a Protein Shake. I had a hard time making myself drink those. IDK if it was because I was sick and tired of them by that point or what.

I can neither feel my band nor my port. I know where my port it is simply because that is where the largest of my 5 incisions was made. At 4 weeks post op I feel completely "normal." I went back to work a week & 1day after surgery (I do have a desk job).

So far, I have absolutely no regrets. I already get full much faster and stay full longer than I did pre-op---my band was empty when it was installed and I will not have a fill until I am 8 weeks post op.

You will likely have some discomfort post-op. The level of discomfort and the time it takes one to rebound seems to vary widely from person to person from what I have read here on LBT. Best of luck to you on this journey!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
