Discomfort swallowing after 3rd fill

Recommended Posts

I just had my 3rd fill also last Tue 9/1. At 7.4 cc now. This fill has been the first restriction I have had since surgery on 6/19. Just wondering, I have never been "stuck" but i can feel every peice of food I swallow go down my throat and it usually is an uncomfortable feeling (maybe this IS stuck). Not severe pain but painful enough where it makes my meal times uncomfortable. I have tightness in the morning and have definatley cut my intake in half from the week before until now. I have never thrown up or had any PB'ing. Im happy now because I have only lost 7 lbs since June and now I feel like I can finally get the ball rolling but is this what restriction feels like? Painful swallowing where I dont want to eat much?

If painful swallowing continues, you will want to have a small amt removed. You are probably really close to your sweet spot. Sometimes less then .25 cc can make a huge difference.

When you are at the right fill, eating should never be an uncomfortable experience. You probably need a tiny unfill.

Thanks for posting. I was banded on 6/22 and am going for my third fill tomorrow. I'm hoping to get more restriction. I have had some things stuck but I know it's because I didn't chew them enough. I'm hoping for more restriction tomorrow. Good Luck!!

You do need to make sure you are chewing everything chewable into mush, and taking small bites. I can feel it when I don't do this; when I do, things feel "normal". Make sure you are following the "mechanics" properly.

AND the tightness in the morning is very likely hydration. Are you making sure to get enough Water (64 oz) in? If not, up your consumption and I bet that goes away. Most schizo bands are caused by hydration issues. Dry=tight.

I'm in the same boat with the tightness and uncomfortable. I feel everything that's comes down and even PBing and throwing up but I have a appointment on tomorrow to get some Fluid remove. I hope I hadn't damaged my band.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
