Has anyone considered tummy tuck before goal?

Recommended Posts

I've only taken off about 50 pounds, but I had gained them so quickly that I now have more excess skin than I know what to do with. Especially the lower belly - i HATE the way it looks in jeans if I don't wear a Spanx or something. I've been yo-yo fat all my life, and I've never had this skin hanging problem before. Of course, i'm not getting any younger, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it also.

Has anyone had surgery before goal, just because you couldn't stand it? How about getting the surgery twice? I'm sure the recovery is excruciating, so I can't say I'd want to do this, but I'm wondering if anyone out there has.

I had a Tummy Tuck long ago before i even had children now that i'm going to be loosing about 80 lbs i just know im going to need a revision. Revisions from what i have heard are a little more riskier. Just because there is a whole lot of scar tissue and blood supply isnt as good. If i were you i would just buy a good girdle and wait until your weight stablizes. Your skin might shrink a little give it some time. Here is the type of girdle thats my favorite its the classic from lipoexpress.com check them out a little pricy but theyre bullet proof.. i love it.. It gives you a great silouette when you're wearing them its a temp fix until you're to goal.

My stomach seems to be going back to its original size so far but it was always really tight. My problem is worse as it is on my face. I am 51 and even with my weight loss so far my facial skin is really starting to wrinkle. It has been terrifying! I am definitely planning on getting some facial work done but I am going to wait till goal even though my face looks like a roadmap and I know it will get worse, I don't want to have to do it twice.

jlray~ I would give your skin some time to adapt. It has only been a short time since you had surgery and with exercise you should see some firming. I hate the excess skin - drives me nuts. But I am trying to be patient.

SoCal~ Thanks for the link. I am going to check that out!

Greytz~ My face is really bothering me too. I did not realize I had so many wrinkles!

It's kinda like getting your car painted and then getting in an accident!

I like your comment that you have more skin then you know what do with--make some wallets out of it?? I'm in an odd goofy mood today.

My positive comment is that you can use your hatred for the excess skin to keep you on track towards your goal so you only need to the Tummy Tuck once

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
