Anyone have a little restriction but not enough?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if anyone had experienced a little bit of restriction but felt like it was not enough, on the way to the 'sweet spot'? I definitely feel some restriction, but I don't think that it is enough (I can definitely eat more than a cup and I get hungry sometimes in less than 4 hours). I have had 2 fills so far, and am at 7ccs in my Realize Band. I'm really anxious to get to the right restriction, but this doesn't feel like its it. I'm trying not to get down about it :)

Any help or experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I am right with you. I was banded in June and have had 3 fills. I have 8.5 cc's in an 11 cc band. With so much in you'd think I'd be there. I can feel some restrict and have has some tight episodes (not stuck, but not quite). I can eat more than a cup and more importantly it doesn't stay with me - I'm always hungry in about 3 hours. I get another fill next week - I know I'm close, but getting anxious to hit my sweet spot.

Wow you guys have lots in your band I have a 10 and only have 3.5 cc's, and I was banded in April. ( I just got filled yesterday went from 2.5 cc's to 3.5). I still have no restriction, and no appointment till end of October. My doctor is very reserved in giving fills. It is a slow process.

I would be happy with a little restriction.

You're fine. I have the realize band also and it took the third fill to get good restricition. The first really didn't do anything. The second did for a about a week and then it seemed to loosen. The third was great. And I just went in this past week and they added only .2 CCs. Just a bit to get me where I wanted to be. I have about 7.75 in my 11cc band and am really good right now. The weight loss has started up again which is nice to see after about a 2 month plateau. When you go back, they will probably start doing fills of only .5 - 1cc. The closer you get to your sweet spot, the more cautious they need to be with the fill amounts. Good luck.

I'm in the same boat as you all. I have a 4cc band with 2.5cc of fill (have had 2 fills). I can certainly eat more than 1 cup, but am not able to eat what I used to eat. My doc would have put 1cc in last week when I went for my second fill, but I asked him to put only .5 as I didn't want to go too far. I go in again one week from tomorrow for a consult and hope to schedule a new fill. Like you, I get hungry within a few hours but force myself not to eat. I guess what I'm saying is that we're all in the same boat.

I was banded in June. I had one fill 3cc in a 10cc band. I was fine until last week. I don't think I am actually hungry but I am looking for a snack quicker then I was before. I am hoping my next fill takes that away. A little stressed that last 2 weeks so maybe that has something to do with wanting junk food!! (which thank God I have been able to fight the urge) lol.....but I am starting to weaken

Thanks for all the replies. I'm glad to know I'm not alone. I ate a full plate of salad with about .5 cup of tuna on top yesterdat with NO problems so I know I am not at the right restriction.

I was actually also wondering about another thing: even though I am sticking to 800-1200 calories a day, I have been plateued for about a week now (and even gained a few pounds). When I get my fill level right, what will get me to start losing weight since I'm already within the correct number of calories currently (and still not losing)? Getting stressed out about this. Anyone have any ideas?

I am right with you. I have 4cc's in a 14cc band. I can eat about a cup of food, definitly a LOT less that before but I am not at any sweet spot. I am losing consistently because I am counting calories/ I had my first fill on Sept 3rd and am going to schedule the next one about 3 weeks late.

I have 4cc's in a 10cc band. I received my 2nd fill on August 24. I had fairly good restriction until the last 3 or 4 days and am now back to being hungry. I still cannot eat as much before being filled, but I am not staying full. Luckily, I go in on Monday (the 14th) for my 3rd fill. I am ready!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
