Fills under fluoroscopy

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a question for those who have had fills under fluoro. I was banded 07/07 and now have 3.5 cc in my Realize band. My doctor is aggressive with fills thankfully, but the nurse practitioner only put .5 cc in the last time, because it was a "blind" fill. So, she told me that the next one I should have done under fluoro so they can be a bit more aggressive with the fill, as they want their patients in the green zone as soon as possible.

Anyway, my question is, about how many fills under fluoro did you have before you got restriction? Also, how much did they inject while they had you under fluoro?

Thank you bunches! :))

I only had one fill under fluro, the rest were done in the surgeon's office done by feel. I've always had some restriction from each fill. There have been 2 times that the fill has reached the "sweet spot" and one of them is now. Believe me, you don't want to get too tight from a fill as you will be miserable. I don't like the term agressive fill because some people can't handle much and some people can handle more. A fill is an individual thing and your surgeon generally can tell how much you can tolerate by the swallow test (although the swallow test isn't always perfect). What I am trying to say is this, if it takes baby steps to get you to the sweet spot don't sweat it because you will get there. And if they hit the sweet spot right away that is great. Just don't rush things afterall you are in it for the long haul. By the way, I've been banded for 2 years and just a few pounds from goal, lost 113 lbs so far. My expierence with the band has been great. Hope your expierence will be great too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
