Is anyone Else this crazy??

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys!

I was banded 9/19/05 and am feeling great. My 1st fill is scheduled for 10/24/05. So far 12lbs down post-op and 6lbs down in 2 wks before surgery so 18lbs total!

Here's my weird experience that I think my fellow bandsters can (maybe!) appreciate or...laugh like I am crazy! Here goes:

One day last weekend my hubby - who is an amazing cook - was making steak and gravy for the kids and himself. It smelled sooooo good and I wanted a taste really really bad but didn't want to do anything stupid or painful. But mmmm, it smelled so good. I went over to the plate of sliced steak he had prepared and looked longingly, then peeked around, made sure no one was near, and popped a piece in my mouth!

Don't worry, I did NOT EAT IT, but I did run it around in my mouth, lick it and make all the noises better left in the bedroom if you get my drift. Then I took the still whole piece out and threw it away. It worked! Satisfied my desire for a "taste" After all, it's all in the mouth anyway right?

So guys and gals, have any of you ever done something as crazy as this? If this has been you, please let me know!

I did something similar with a piece of Beef Smoked Sausage hubby had grilled. I picked one up and sucked the juice out of the cut end of it...oh YEAH! it was so yummy. And you know it was nothing but grease! But so tasty. It satisfied the urge. So then I cut off the end I sucked on and fed the rest to one of my kids. ??? I guess THAT'S the crazy part...ewww.

I'm guilty. 3 days post op, made dinner for the kids and made tater tots, my very weakness, potatoes, so I popped one in my mouth, chewed it really good and DIDNT eat it, I spit it out, gross, I know, but I got the taste. I am doing very well with the liquid thing, but I am so crazy hungry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, been there, done that, and will probably do it again. Sometimes just the taste helps curb the craving. I'm also at the stage where I know mostly what I can or can't eat. So I know how uncomfortable I will be if I actually eat something, but just chewing it then spitting it out can really hit the spot.

I am not banded yet, but hey, I was thinking about this and had plans to execute it as a strategy to help with cravings afterwards! I think it is a great idea! Trying to be discrete with the waste would be the most challenging! I think it would work in a restaraunt too! Fake coughing in a napkin! 36_19_2.gif Leave a big tip if you do this.

Yup, I did it too when still in the liquid phase and still do this occasionally. It's quite a thing to learn what my band will and won't tolerate. For me potatos are just such a no go. They cause me pain in all forms of the potato....believe me, I've tried.

Heck yea, even on the way up to my surgery my hunny stopped at Subway and got a steak and cheese sub, I took a pc of meat and sucked on it, chewed it and spit it out

many of people do it even if they hide it.. It helps a lot!!!!!!!!! Satisfies the cravings and the chewing

I can relate. I was banded on MOnday Sept 26th and just how much broth can you take? Well I have been very compliant but last night those cheetos were call me. I just put it in my mouth, was scared to death to swallow it and then threw it away. I have lost 17 lbs since surgery last monday and -8 preop. Oh, I also ate a york peppermint patty, it melts down so easy and the peppermint really helped with the gas. So you're not carzy just hungry and human. Be well

Darned near every night I ask hubby if I can lick his steak (chicken, pizza, whatever he's having). I'm sure he's thinking "this was funny the first time, but come ON!"

I'm kidding when I say it, of course.

Well, maybe.....

We have lots of spitters around here. GOOD for you for spitting it out! I wish I had that kind of willpower, but once something falls in my mouth it's all over.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
