Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Recommended Posts

Good evening, Violets..

All done with babysitting today and singing rehearsal. Grady was a cutie and Ethan was good until he peed his pants....... really soaked them. Dang, we were doing so well. He had a nice, long walk with Grampa today. Grampa forgot to put him on the potty when he got home so.........you know the rest of the story.

Tomorrow we get him at 8 til 5. I have choir in the evening and dinner out with friends. Then Thursday is ZUMBA day!!

Off to watch The Good Wife and then read for a bit on the Kindle before I nod off.

Everyone have a good evening. sleep well.

I am torn, i like the clean elegant look--but I love the personalization of the pics, and it's a good keepsake. If you like the swirlies, I have some great sets on my photoshop at work that would look nice.

Haydee, make sure when you decide, you give me the printer's number so I make it in the best printable format for their presses!

It works if I turn my laptop upside down.. ;o)

Oh my... wish I'd thought of that... I simply stood on my head! :)

They all look nice but I do like the idea of using a pic(s) as well... personalized... I didn't like the one where all the numbers were spelled out (May Fifteenth, Two Thousand and Ten)... my brain doesn't work that way!

Laura... I see your "current" number taking a free-fall -- yay! :(

Pam... How was YOUR big meeting?? I'm sure you wow'd them!! :scared2:

Another busy day in paradise for me... coffee w/a friend this a.m.... lots of work... kids going here & there... Everyone have a great day!

Hola Chicas~

I am not sure why is posted upside down...and I din't have time to fix it...but you get the idea. Just something more to think about Haydee, as if you have nothing to do. Whatever you pick...it will be great!

OK...I am too f^*king busy. The meeting went great, about 30 people came...and it was a nice night. SO MUCH WORK to be over in 2 hours. The content was on structural racism and institutional racism...these are so deep rooted in society we don't even notice. The people enjoyed it and the conversations were powerful!

Today is a field trip...then home to fix my Walden issues. My new "class" has another professor in it...and they need to give me a new session so I can fix it...students start popping in tomorrow!!!:(:w00t::scared2:

The bride and groom are MIA...not sure what the hell is going on there. I told her I ONLY have this afternoon open...so it has to be today or Saturday (and we both agreed that it would be best if I met them before). I'll keep you posted on that one!

I NEED AN I LOVE LUCY DAY! and the one day I was thinking of, Nov. 10, I got an email yesterday saying I have a meeting that afternoon, from 3-4:30. I am pissed, cause I have an eye apppointment that day that I was gonna move so I can have my Lucy day!!! WWWAAAHHH! Sorry...to bitch...but WWWAAAHHH!

OK...enough about me!

have a great day...love you girlies!

We got the CUTEST Halloween card from Michelle!!! Thanks so much...it made my night last night! It is on our little table! xoox

Good morning, Violets..

The Bobster let me sleep in til 8:30 this morning. He got up to greet Ethan at 8. Now Bob is off to have coffee with a friend and I'm here watching Dora, the Explorer halloween show.

I need to get to the church this afternoon to enlarge some music for a couple of choir members with vision issues. Other than that, not much going on today. Laundry and the usual.

Michelle.. thanks for the cute Halloween card!!

Haydee.. I too like the one with pix on it.

Janie.. how did the sleep study go?

PamELa.. good thing you're not retired or you would be doubly busy! Take it from one who knows whereof she speaks..

Laura.. how's the restriction? Any word on reimbursement yet?

Suzy and Heather.. hope you're both doing well with the move and the job.

Off to get dressed and dry my hair.< /span>

Everyone have a great day. Be good to yourselves.

Hello everyone . . . still busy and swamped with moving, working, went to the circus, had to drive 5 hours yesterday with the baby alone for a fill appointment. I am not going to have breathing time until November at this rate, lol.

On a positive note, I have a little restriction again. It isn't much but I can detect it. I had one hard boiled egg for Breakfast and it just sat in my pouch in an almost but not quite uncomfortable way. Yayyy.

I have some work to do. I was down to 127 at my sickest but it was not a healthy way to lose weight. I seemed to stabilize at 136 for some time - but at my appointment yesterday I was 141.

I think I am going to make my personal goal 135 which is the upper end of a normal BMI. This is a reasonable maintenance weight for me and I can live with it. :0)

I forgot to mention that they told me yesterday that they put in a large Allergen band which holds 14 cc's.

They said they usually put in a large band if it is a replacement in case scar tissue causes a band to be too tight when it is empty. I had 6.5 cc's in the band from surgery and they added 3 more cc's.

I am happy about a larger band. I think if I decide to have another baby in the future, this might help me to make it through pregnancy.

I had 3 emergency unfills and finally a bad slip on an empty band through my pregnancy/delivery. I think my stomach/band is just wayyyy too sensitive to hormonal fluctuations and having a big enough band to accomodate that is a great thing.

Restriction is perfect right now. :(

No word on reimbursement, I just sent them an e-mail saying how Russ told me about it, and to have them keep me updated if they got any more info.

sleep study ran late this morning, went to work in clothes from yesterday and now I am home between appointments to change. I took a shower and even have clean underwear, just didn't bring a change of clothes.

Will post later, and love all the save the date cards. I am so bad at making decisions!!

Good evening, Violets...

Just back from choir rehearsal. I hate to admit it, but choir just doesn't give me the same feeling it used to. We used to have 18-22 in choir each week and now at rehearsals we are getting 8-10. The spirit of the church has just died.

Tomorrow morning is flute rehearsal and then ZUMBA in the evening!!!! I can't wait! Sure hope it lives up to my expectations.

Off to watch Modern Family. Glee isn't on because of the World Series. Then to read some on the Kindle and then lights out. Ethan comes at 8 again tomorrow morning. We have him every day this week. Gramma is going to be worn out by Saturday.

Everyone have a good evening. sleep well!!

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
