Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Recommended Posts

Good morning, Violets..

The Bobster let me sleep in today. We found out last night that Ethan would be here from 8-12 today. I have a little bit to do to get ready to leave. Bob is taking his computer in today for a software problem and asking why we can't hook up the laptops to the router if we put security on the router.

We are not taking the laptops with us. There will be computers at the hotel, I'm guessing and internet on the ship though we won't be using it much. It's expensive and slow. We'll probably just check email and that's it.

I'm going to update the countdown to reflect when I'll be back to continue it so Haydee.. be prepared for the numbers to fly by!!

Off to find something for Breakfast. I'm thinking some toast and Peanut Butter this morning for something different.

Everyone have a great day. Be good to yourselves!

It's cooooolllldddd over here too Michelle. Not loving this weather...

I did not want to get out of bed this morning. It was so warm. Last night we stayed out late looking for Juan's stuff. We had to go to three stores because basically hunting season is over so no one had jackets anymore. In reality I think our guys needed a break from us that's why they are leaving for the weekend. They just needed a testosterone filled weekend after so many weeks of doing holiday stuff with all of us girls. They are all SO READY and so excited even though it's gonna be FREEZING. They don't care...

Juan got lucky too because this weekend is a wedding show and we needed to go look for linens and he's getting out of that!

Judy! I'm so jealous! I wish I was leaving for vacation NOW instead of in March. I'm so so looking forward to it. Do you take your FLIP when you go on vacation?

Pammy - did ya'll end up buying your ticks last night? So happy to hear from ya'll!

Janey - are you frozen over there too?? How cold does it get by you?

Michelle - that plan you posted was exactly what I need to be doing... No refined sugars and no sodas to start off with. I am so sugar addicted from the holidays... I became addicted to soda once again. I just need to quit cold turkey... Tonight is our LAST holiday party. I'm so happy for that...

Morning Girls~

I am checking in from my NEW desk arrangement...as my old one tweaked my back again. Same hot spot at the very end of my spine. Had to take a pill last night, and Sus put the electric stim machine on me. I did 27 min of cardio today but I was VERY gingerly with my movements. So I came into work and moved my monitor to my desk instead of the side desk. That caused me to sit w/ my legs open, and strain my back. I am eating my 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. I have a mini fridge in my class, so I just bring in the container of cottage cheese on Monday...gotta love the ease of that!

Yes, we did get our tix. I'll send out emails w/ the deets (details).

If you can, watch Access Hollywood tonight. All the stars are in town for the International Film Festival. I think I told you we are going to 6 or 7 movies. Anyway, Mariah Carey is here...and she was BOMBED out of her mind last night. I am sure it will be on Access. Or google it...it is hilarious!

OK...my lovlies...have a great day!

Where the hell is Laura??? She doesn't love us anymore or she is busy raising the manchild!

Good morning!

Yes it is cold here. We have been in the single digit all week and part of last week. We are supposed to get snow tonight, then the temp is supposed to dip below zero!!!

I did not finish my organizing, I really made a lot of progress, but it just does not look like it!!

Judy I hope you and Bob have soo much fun on your cruise!! It sounds like fun, one of these days I would like to take a cruise!!

Aliright here I go ready to start work!!!!!!

ooohh pam, hope the adjustment you did to your desk helps! How's Ciara doing? Is she back in school yet?

And YES I just saw Mariah's speech on yahoo. Hilarious! She was so bombed, LOL.

I am STARVING and brought nothing with me for breakfast and there is nothing here in the office to eat. This sucks! I need to prepare myself better...

Pam, dh came home from his back pt this a.m. w/one of those stim machines! What is it w/back problems lately??

Judy, you must be getting so excited!! Your countdown is into HOURS now, not days!

Haydee, b'fast is the most important meal of the day... is there a 'frig @ work where you could put a few days' worth of items... maybe yogurt, oatmeal, low-fat cheese, fruit?

Janie... at least your heading in the right direction w/the organizing... I keep meaning to, but... so kudos to you!

Off to get ready for lunch...

Yep, we have a whole kitchen here at the office. I usually keep cottage cheese, greek yogurt, fruit, Cereal, milk, granola. Some healthy frozen meals, Soup at hands. I usually have tons of stuff to choose from. But because I knew december I was gonna be out most of the time I never replenished my stock and now I'm paying for it. I did manage to find a little bit of granola left and an old yogurt that expired in Nov that isn't mine. I went around and asked all my co-workers who's it was and the girl that it belongs to told me to throw it away. But since it's fat free it's still good! I asked her if I could have it and she said go ahead, LOL. I am now reduced to scavenging for food, LOL. During lunch I'm going to run to the grocery store and re-stock. I can't be starving because that's when I'll eat everything not nailed down! I was already dreaming about what naughtiness I could have for lunch...

Ciria is supposed to return tomorrow or Friday. I think she is just overwhelmed now...can't imagine. We've raised a ton of $$ for her, $2099. at yesterday's car wash alone! Plus we are collecting everyday!

I am going to call for a fill on my prep today!!! Yeah me!

Eating my banana now. I can't eat a banana anymore...It takes nearly a 1/2 hour to eat one. I am trying cause they are so dang good for us, and 1 reg banana is 2 servings of fruit. I don't eat a lot of fruit (band issues...chips no problem) so I figure if I can get a banana in each day that is something. I have a salad for lunch. School lunch...but it works.

I'm alive!!! I looove bananas, and I can't eat them no matter how loose I am. I do it anyway and just PB..

Not much to say, working on getting Carson into normal sleep patterns, he's teething again, he cut his upper left front tooth, it just finally finished coming through all the way, now working on moving down. Still red and angry looking.

I didn't gain ONE pound over the holidays. Didn't lose either, but if you saw what I was eating, not gaining an ounce is a miracle.. so I'm happy with that :(

Way to go Michelle on the 5lb loss!!

How's the wedding planning coming Haydee?

We are suppose to get serious snow tomorrow or Friday, so bizarre, they said NEGATIVE degrees.. don't even know what that feels like, never been in that before. My parents are in the Bahamas, and mom is sad that it's cold this time (not freezing, but too cold to swim)..so nothing else to do. They've been trying to sight-see, but not much to see there... she said the oldest building is a Water tower. Lol.

Well, like I said not much to say, but wanted to let ya'll know I am here ;)

I read what ya'll are saying! I'm not gone.

OH one more thing, when I first went to look at flights for Haydee's wedding, there were a couple around $140-$190.. I signed up on Yapta to keep me updaed on pricing. Within a week ALL tickets went to $350-$400?! And since then, nothing has gone below $350. Is that normal???? I am like what the hell, wish I'd known and I'd have bought the tickets then. Plus, it's never been that expensive to fly to TX.. I'm so confused. But at this rate, looks like I'm going solo.

oh nooooees! $340 is high! I think I paid like $220 when I came to see you... I hope it goes down!

Poor little Carson and poor mommy! I bet this has been so stressfull for you with him upset all the time. How are you handling it? How's russ doing? He helping you?

Pam - I'm so glad that the community rallied for this little girl!

Good afternoon, Violets..

Yep.. a matter of hours before we leave. At this time tomorrow we'll be in Detroit on the first leg of the trip.

The Bobster is packing his garment bag and then that's it except for the toiletries in the morning.

The house is clean and the laundry is done. The yorkies are pretty nervous. They get that way when we bring out the luggage. I'll miss them, but Joe will come over and take care of them and Jetta and Kaylie the cat while we're gone. Kris said she'd stop over whenever she gets to town too.

Eating report:

B= 1 slice toast with peanut butter

L= 4 chicken drummies

2 glasses water

Going to have a stuffed pork chop for supper. Not sure what I'll have with it yet.

Been too busy to even be tempted with snacking. Ethan had a couple of ice cream bars when he was here and I didn't.

We will check on airline prices when we get back from the cruise.

Off to do last minute things...

Choir rehearsal tonight, then supper and then I'll check in before I put the laptop to bed.

Yep, I love my kids (most of the time! ;)

My cats get all wacky when the suitcases appear... must be their animal instincts!

DS & I went to the &. I got to do the "good" elliptical (where I work arms AND legs) today... did it for 20 mins... which is 5 mins longer than yesterday, so yay... + a little arm work. Then after ds wanted to stop @ Cali Tortilla so we did -- ack! -- but I brought in my van/honey greek yogurt w/ 16 g pro & ate that while pretending it was soft-serve ice cream (yeah, I know, I'm pushing it w/that, but what's a gal to do?). Again, yay, me!

Adios, Judy, in case I don't post again before you unplug from cyberspace! Have a FANTASTIC time!! :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
