Nope.. no more this summer. Just Ca. in Sept. and Fl. in Nov. Only problem will be rehearsals for a concert in Sept. Not sure how many I will have to miss. Oh well. It needs to be done. I want to be able to walk again without aching or using a cane.

Judy, it will be a little longer than 12 weeks before it feels like your regular knee, it was real hard for me to go through, but I bet you'll do better. Make sure you do your exercises after surgery, especiall the one where you get like an old cookie sheet and sit in a chair where you can bend your knee back on the cookie sheet. Put your foot on the cookie sheet and slide it under your chair, you need to have the range of motion and this is the best exercise to do for that. They will push your knee back as far as they can each time you go to PT. I finally got mine to 110 degrees at the end of PT. Log on to my Facebook and there is a video on there of me at Borgess after surgery. You will need a walker and a cane, believe me. I couldn't wait to start on the cane after the walker. I gained 10lbs with this surgery and it was on September 23rd last year. that's why I joined WW to lose this unwanted weight. Lost another half pound today at WW. The thought of even getting up to go to the restroom in the middle of the night was frightening, couldn't move out of bed to go, had to have my husband pull me up and move my leg down. I just think you should know what to expect cause no one gave me the news. Take the pain pills in the hospital. Guess what, when you first get out of surgery you go, wow, this is great, I can do this, I'll do my other knee very soon, well, what they do is give you an assortment of pain meds injected in the knee after surgery and you can do anything. Well, when this wore off, let me just tell you, you realize reality, wow. On top of all that, I couldn't take the strong pain medications they gave me, I was so nauseated and light headed and just took Tylenol, wow, I was in some real pain. I think maybe this could be just me, you might do real well, I'm a baby, but it's nice to know what might be. It will be a while before you can walk any distance without tiring. I tried to look around at Target with my daughter about 9 weeks post op and had to rest every couple minutes, just sat while she shopped. Let me tell you though right now I'm happy I did it, no pain. In fact, I can bend it pretty good now. It was hard to get my other knee to bend to get into a tight spot this weekend while the surgery knee did bend quite well. One good and one bad knee now. I will talk to you as you need info.

Michelle.. ((((hugs)))). We're here for you.

Delo.. thanks for the info on the knee surgery... I think!! I didn't sleep well last night thinking of all the ramifications of it all. I've heard lots of horror stories about knee replacements lately, but also lots of people saying they wish they had done it sooner. What is your name in Facebook so I can find the video?? Mine is Judith Grieger Case if you want to find me.

I took a Water pill last night and was up 4 times and then of course thinking about everything in between. Today is WW weigh in and choir and a birthday party for Ethan who turns 4 today. I'm taking the flip so I can video it and put it on Facebook so Joe can see it. Going to be a hard day for him today missing his son's birthday for the first time.

Off to get ready for the day. Everyone have a good one. Will check back after weigh in.

Morning girls~

((hugs)) Michelle!

Judy, I was wondering when you said about taking a Water pill at night...I HATE to wake and pee. I don't have trouble falling asleep, but have trouble falling asleep in the middle of the night after I pee. I don't have any pearls of wisdom for the surgery...just to get your rag mags and laptop ready for your recovery!

Haydee, Janie, Laura...WHAT UP???

Well my saga continues w/ the -907 on the paycheck. I'll loose another 454 on the next paycheck. I was out of "personal necessity" days, so because I took PN days, I have lose a day's pay ($454 a day). The WORST part, is that this effects my retirement because I now haven't "worked" a full year this year...soooo I am losing a full year of service. I should've just put in for sick days ($100/day)...and lie like everyone else does. uuuuuggggg I am hella pissed!

There is some drama at work, and I am dreading even going in this am. Yesterday, I walked away from someone who was calling me and said, "I am NOT going to talk about this again...have a nice day!"

Went to a National Board Honor's dinner last night...it was nice to be around NORMAL grownups, not the ones who drive me crazy.

Wish me luck, and I pray that God stays on my tongue today, so I don't tell someone to go F&^K themselves (which is what I really want to do):tt2::angry::thumbup::confused::cursing::rolleyes:

xooxox

PamELa.. I sure would have taken sick days if I knew it was going to affect everything like it did! Are you docked for your sick days too???? Do you get Personal Days and Sick Days at the beginning of each school year? I always got 3 personal and 12 sick. The sick could roll over each year, but we would lose the personal days if we didn't use them. When I retired, part of the severance pay was being paid the daily rate for the sick days you had not used. I got $8,000 for those days alone with a retirement incentive on top of that. It was a great package at that time and made the decision of retiring a little easier. AND we can buy years. I lost 2 years the times I was pregnant and bought them back on a payment plan. Otherwise I couldn't have retired when I did.

As for the peeing at night.. I always take one the night before I weigh in. It worked for me when I first got the band and it seems to be working for me now, thank goodness. I usually don't have much trouble falling asleep again, but last night I just had too much on my mind.

Pamela and Michelle, hugs to you both!! I know you are both going through some difficult times right now. Hang in there, know that right now, some great violet thoughts are coming your way!!!! Do you feel them????????

Judy do you have to go far for your surgery? Having had a couple of serious surgeries myself, and two basically the same, no two are the same. You never know how you will react. Try not to let the horror stories freak you out. I do know one thing, when I had to have emergency surgery it was better because I didn't have to think about what was coming up............The mind plays such tricks on us!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
