Oh Judy I meant to ask, why the splenda?

I would think any sugar substitute would do. This was a recipe from the bariatrics eating site and my support group was asking for recipes. Thought I'd try this one and it was sooooo good!

I was wondering the same thing as Janie, Splenda or any sugar sounds odd with the other ingredients. However,

I am definitely going to give that recipe a try. It sounds great.

Laura, I am sorry you had such a rough weekend. Poor Carson.

Ayla is going to a new babysitter this week . . . so far so good but we are only a day in a half into it.

There are 3 other kids ranged in age from 1-3. One of the kids is a child that she has been with all day since she was 2 months old and they love each other. The sitters house is walking distance from my place so I feel lucky.

To be honest, I really didn't expect it to go so smoothly. She just turned 9 months and she doesn't like strangers right now. She knows everyone in the home but only saw the others maybe once or twice a month for a couple of hours. She is also teething and is a little on the clingy/emotional side right now. Thank goodness everything is going well.

Good morning, Violets..

Well, it's still morning here for 5 more minutes. Been busy installing programs on the new desk top pc and then balancing the bank statement. I couldn't figure out why I was $780 off, but then found out a page of the statement slipped on the floor when it came out of the printer. whew. All balanced now.

I've got the spinach/cheese souffle leftovers in the oven for lunch. We love spinach pie and this is just about the same thing without the carbs of the phyllo dough.

I see what you mean now about the sugar question. I don't ask why, I just follow the directions!!

Our goldfinches have returned to the feeders so I need to go out today and get some finch seed just for them. We have NO snow at all anywhere and that is just unbelievable for this time of year. Bob did poop detail and got the back yard free of logs. We've been using the hot tub again and it feels great.

I'm going to go out triking again today at 3. Our last singing rehearsal before our concert is tonight... it's going to be a long, stressful rehearsal because we have a very picky "leader". She nails us on everything from breathing to elongating vowels. Arghhhh.. I just want to sing!!

Flute quartet has a concert on Sunday so it's going to be a busy weekend for me. I'm also going to travel to Bob's church Sunday for services. Our choir here has the Sunday off so I'm going to go and hear a GOOD sermon for a change!!

Off to get the souffle out of the oven and have lunch with the Bobster.

Everyone make it a good day!

Jane have you used Singulair before, did it work?

Thursday morning I spent 3 hours at the allergist before daycare called. They did more allergy tests, the ones with needles under the skin.. uh OWWWW!! I am allergic to grass & dogs now too. So that's dust, dogs, cats, and grass. That's easy to avoid, right? Heh...

So she talked about doing allergy shots, but I can't commit to a shot a week for a year, and not seeing results till 15 months in. They take forever as it is (3 hours!!), I couldn't do it every week.

So they gave me singulair, xyzcal, and 2 more nasal sprays to try. She said if that regulates it, I can stay on those long term. So far they aren't, but I'm sick with something respiratory so I wouldn't really know.

Yes, I take singulair for my asthma, I don't think it helps my allergies, but if I didn't I wonder if they would be worse?

They can train you to do them at home...that is what we do. I can't go anywhere once a week, too busy...but it is easy at home, just in the thigh.

Pam, they didn't give me that option or I would have said that was reasonable. I was texted mom while in the office since I had all that free time, when I told her about the shots, she told my my aunt had to do it and she remembers havin to take her and yadda blah blah (and then they never worked). Then the lady came in and told me I had to come in there every week for the first year, then every other week.. NO THANKS!!

I want them to just cauterize the damn thing.

And, I can't get a 2nd opinion, the waiting list for specialists in Hville is 2 years across the board. My allergist was going to make me wait 6m to come in, till I called back and said "In the meantime, call me something new in to try" then suddenly they had an opening. And for my 4 week follow up, walking out the door they handed me a date & time. I didn't get to schedule it, they just told me! It's unreal. I don't know if I mentioned before, but I hate my allergist's office. From reception to nurse they are all horrible with crappy attitudes. When dog allergy swole up and she goes 'you're allergic to dogs' and I went "REALLY?" like, wow huh.. and she goes "Really." all monotone and sarcastic. Then she said 'tom grass' and I said what's tom grass.. and she goes 'I don't know.. tom grass' again all monotone and sarcastic. They all give me dirty looks, and they acted like I killed their kid because I had cat hair on my shirt. I'm not getting rid of my cats and I hate that they keep telling me that and tsk'ing like I did something bad. I may not get ANOTHER one one day, but I'm not getting rid of the ones I have! Good grief! end rant.

Carson is going back to daycare tomorrow if he's feeling up to it.. He's on antibiotics and doc cleared him for tomorrow. I called them to make sure the loose stooles from antibiotics isn't going to flag them (they won't let your child be in with diarhea) and she said no, they know antibiotics make them loose.

Gosh who knew I'd be discussin this stuff hah hah.

And I'm making my spaghetti squash thing I posted the recipe for tonight. I'm so hungry.... had to skip lunch..

Just finished up making individual italian meatloaves & coconut cream pie for DH to take up to NJ w/him tomorrow. The pie is MIL's fave, & I figured it'd be easy for her to eat.

It's a gorgeous, almost 60 day here today. All the rain we've been having for a week now really suited my mood. It sux even more to be down in nice spring weather!! There's just no pleasing me lately.

HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY VIOLETS!

Hope everyone enjoys their day! Not much going on on this end...wearing green, that is it. I have 4 appointments after school plus a meeting so that is what I'll be up to.

So at 11:30 last night, our new security alarm was BLARING!!! Scared the shit out of us cause at first we didn't even know what it was (it sounds different than our old one). We turned it off and it said zone 6 was the problem, our living room windows. Anyway, needless to say we didn't sleep well after that. Scared big time.

off to put my face on...have a great day!!

Good morning, Violets..

Another beautiful day out there today. We're supposed to get up to the lower 60's today. Time for another trike ride! I have choir and a Lenten service tonight. I'm playing a couple of Irish pieces on the flute and then directing the choir in a piece. Tomorrow starts the busy-ness. I have Ethan (finally!) for the day, plus a flute rehearsal. Friday I have Ethan again and our New Day Singers concert. Sunday is our Wind Song Flute quartet concert. Next week, I'll be able to breathe a little easier.

Nathan, Kris and Grady got back from a week in Florida yesterday. I'm anxious to see my little guy.

Hope everyone has a good day today. Happy St. Patty's to you all!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
