Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

"Ok, off to watch Criminal Minds re-runs on A&E. I love that show!! "

It's a good show, but it always totally creeps me out. How do they think of such gruesome plots? Did you see the season premiere a week or so ago? Where that serial killer stabbed Hodge (sp?) 11 times or something... slowly & with practiced precision so as not to kill him?... I had to turn it off... just too too gross! DS loves that show... it worries me.

Hmmmmm maybe we'll try the "no tv" idea!:lol::tt2:

Me again! One more thought...

Judy: google "Zumba" and then you can check to see if there any other classes or instructors in your vacinity. Or ask the gym who was going to teach the class & get her info & find out where else she teaches it. That sux that the class was cancelled. It's fun!

Good morning!!

Had to fix the cords of my computer this am. Somehow yesterday a cord came unplugged and I couldn't get on the internet. I don't understand all that. The plug that was out was for the phone, I have uverse, so it doesn't run through my phone line? I thought.......

I hope you all have fun this weekend. I hope your support group is great Judy!!!!! Michelle, enjoy your new mattress, I think sticker shock would be in order for me, I have heard how much they have gone up!!

Hope your free weekend stays free Pamela!!

Great news about the foster child!!!!!!!

Haydee I hope you are having fun!!!

Hey V's~

We had a great night w/ Jenny and Annette, and Lisa and Noel (they are a couple we've met once before). I really like them. Jenny made stuffed Pasta shells, w/ turkey and artichoke hearts inside, in a light marinara. OMG THEY WERE SO GOOD!

Well our free weekend has been relaxing and productive. I slept in until 7:30...ahhhh! Went to gym and did 30 on eliptical. I actually pushed myself and did 2.25 miles, where usually I do 2.10 in 30 min. If you know the eliptical...that is pretty cool. Susanne went to the HS and ran the track. Then we came home and cleaned up the poop from our #1 poopster! Spent some chillax time w/ the big guy in the back yard. Now we are showered, gonna grab a bite, go to Walmart...THEN WE ARE GOING TO THE OCTOBER FEST IN BIG BEAR LATER!!! Really looking forward to it. Good food, German beers, entertainment. Plus, Big Bear is cool...it is a mtn town about 2 hours away. Get to wear jeans for the first time since last Feb (last time I was cold). Anyway...that is the day.

Ya'll have a great weekend. Laura...don't you leave us too!

Good evening, Violets..

Support group was awesome today. We had 12 there including 1 looking into lap band and 1 looking into the sleeve. Two of the people who showed up today have not been there since the first couple of meetings we had. It's a mom and son and they were struggling with the band and getting discouraged. They stopped coming and I was afraid they were sitting at home putting the weight on, but lo and behold there they were looking fantastic!!! The mom has lost 76# and the son has lost 53#. The mom had been losing steadily, but the son was on some kind of meds that prevented him from losing weight. He got the meds changed a few months ago and has lost 40# in three months!!!!! I was so pleased. Bob and I are on a challenge. We are going to weigh in tomorrow and then set a goal for 1 month. If we make that goal, we will set another. If we don't make the goal we will go down and see the doctor. I know I don't need another fill, but I think the Bobster does. I still have good restriction, but he doesn't. Course he's been drinking carbonated beverages and I think that's doing him in. He has his mindset where it should be now, so maybe he'll continue on the "loser" streak. We're also going to do the 5 day pouch test again to jump start the challenge.

Off to do a little kitchen clean up and then get some Soup ready for supper. We had lunch late today so we're not really hungry, but I have to get my last meal in early so I don't have to worry about acid reflux when I go to bed.

Everyone have a great evening. sleep well!!

Judy -- Sounds like a good plan! What great motivation that group is!

So... I'm working on organizing a 50th anniversary trip/gathering in January for my in-laws, our family, & dh's brother's family (+ maybe my mom & SIL's parents... & maybe my sister)... so between 10-14 folks, ages 4-74... We're thinking warm, beach, nature, relaxing, activities for the kids... I've got my travel agent working on options. So today we announce the idea to the ILs and guess what my nature-loving, anti-popular culture FIL suggests? -- DISNEY! You could've knocked us over w/a feather! In fact, I specifically told the TA NO Disney just because of him! & now SIL is all excited about it (they've never taken their kids & really want to)... so how ironic would that be?! It would be a COMPLETELY different type of trip, tho... much more relaxed, more hanging out by the pool, etc., than the trip last month. So we'll see... the TA is pricing out different options... I just keep chuckling about it... who'd have thunk it? (Personally, a beach resort in the Turks & Caicos was looking good to me!!)

If laughing burns calories... then I'm down a bunch this afternoon! :tt2:

Good evening!

Watching the Cardinals............ Such promise for the world series, but now................I think it might be over tonight. That is good news for Pam if she is a LA fan!

Michelle that is really cool about Disney!!! Although Turks and Caicos sounds very nice right now.

Okay off to do some stuff around here. I don't think I will watch this game anymore, it is very very depressing!!

I missed the beginning of the premier....

But I do think the show in general had something to do with the very vivid nightmare I had last night. I dreamed someone broke into my house and killed me. Guess it's good that I woke up, but couldn't get back to sleep for a while.

I also watch a lot of Forensic Files and shows like that so it may not be all Criminal Mind's fault! I read those types of books too -- I'm really setting myself up here aren't I??

Good morning, Violets..

Went to bed really early last night to read. I am almost done with Have A Little Faith. I am loving the book.

Now I'm up and showered and ready to get dressed for church. Nap this afternoon and then a big concert tonight. Then I can finally relax from musical things.. well, at least until Thursday when our flute quartet plays background music for a reception. But that's easy, peasy.

Everyone have a great day. We were supposed to get snow last night, but it didn't happen, thank goodness. We don't even have all the leaves on the ground yet!

Hey Girls~

We had a great time at the Oct. Fest. Pix on FB if you wanna see! Today I made chicken Cordon Blue in the crocker...pretty good...until the PB's (yes plural) came. Susanne liked it and I am enjoying ice cream. When I have the bad violet pbs ice cream makes the burning go away (true, not just in my head).

Grading papers, relaxing, think a nappy poo is coming up...

HAVE A GREAT SUNDAY!

I like the weekdays better, we get more chatter in here!

Janie, I always think of you having a great attitude. That being said, it is okay to have a shitty attitude from time to time. Your personality and attitude are so upbeat! Enjoy your "off" day, but I bet you'll be back to your normal self in no time!

Good Evening, Vi's~~

Busy day... ramping up for a *very* busy week this week. Seems like there's a little bit of everything going on at some time or another this week. Should be good... just very carefully orchestrated!

A couple days ago I bought a new book & mag for weight loss motivation but haven't had much time to peruse them yet. What I've skimmed looks good, & I'll share w/you all once I get into them!

Off to do MORE WORK!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
