Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Recommended Posts

Pam, I had to laugh about Rappers Delight, lol. Everytime I hear that name I think of the old lady in The Wedding Singer movie with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore . . . for some weird reason I never get tired of that movie (or 50 First Dates either), lol.

I also never get tire of the Dawn of the Dead or Shawn of the Dead movies (I must be a hidden zombie film buff). The Color Purple also never fails to hold my interest. The Big Lebowski movie has probably been watched half a dozen times by me. On top of it all is Zoolander with Ben Stiller . . . I have to watch it every time. :0) I guess my eclecticism knows no bounds, lol.

So, now that I am officially on solid foods post rebanding . . . I discovered something terrible last night. I ate a chipotle burrito (now I did ask for half's of most items), nevertheless I ate the whole ENTIRE burrito. About an hour later, I was hungry again and rooting around the kitchen. Now this was not just head hunger, this was legitimate stomach hunger as well. I ate a small piece of chocolate and was reasonably good, but my mind was telling me I should whip up a batch of Peanut Butter Cookies or lemon bars, after all . . . I had all the stuff I needed and who wants it to go to waste???

So for the first time since being banded, my hunger demons have returned with a vengeance. Now I remember exactly why I was banded.

I also realize that I really need my band. Had I had it removed thinking I had learned my lesson and could do this on my own, I would have been wrong (and I was indeed thinking these thoughts). I realize now that I would be heavier again . . . maybe not to the same level but I would still be heavier.

So why did I get banded in the first place??? My hunger sensor is not tuned into reality. A chipotle burrito, even a smaller version, should have filled a reasonable person to capacity.

My first fill is on 10/27 . . . I scheduled it late because I wanted to give my stomach extra time to recover. Now I am bummed because it is a rather late appointment and the first fill is typically only marginally useful.

Woe is me . . .

Oh by the way, thanks everyone for your thoughts on the landlord issue. It is almost unanimous that I should run. My DH also said he really does not want to live there anymore even if it were free.

I guess that's it . . . I am going to move. Did I mention that I reallly, truly hate moving, lol. I guess I should just suck it up and go.

Also, feelings are fickle . . . yesterday I started to feel sorry for her thinking she can't find anyone quickly this time of year. This morning after thinking through everything I am feeling like she deserves what she gets for behaving so poorly towards us. A little niceness, decency and respect for others goes a looong way. Too bad for her.

Good afternoon, Violets..

Just back from 3 hours of being receptionist at the hospital for those getting flu shots. It was a little dull, but the best part was seeing a lady come in who I guessed to be in her late 70's. When I asked her birthdate she said 05/02/1914. I said excuse me... 1914??? She said yep.. I'm 95! I had the nurse guess and she said 75. The lady said she was going to go in her purse and get a quarter to pay us for saying nice things. She was a hoot! Kicked up her heels and her daughter said.. MOTHER.. you're not on Broadway. It made the morning totally worth it!

Ethan is here now and it's raining so we're watching cartoons and reading books. The Bobster is out gathering our lunch from KFC.

PamELa.. The Bobster and I are going with Kris on a shopping trip this weekend. No Grady and no Nathan.. We're going to Sam's club and Babies R Us and the outlet stores. Should be fun.

Some of my favorite movies..

Dirty Dancing

Mr. Mom

The Son In Law

Tommy Boy

Sound of Music

Dumb and Dumber

The Mask

James Bond movies and Star Trek movies

Michelle... great pix.. You sure can tell the kids belong to you! Not that you were wondering..

It's 50 degrees and the furnace is humming away. Ethan is watching Dora and speaking Spanish. What a guy.

Heather..a whole burrito, eh? Even though most things go down, I am always reminded I have the band when I try to eat too fast or eat something too dry. I somethings think.. do I still have a band and then the pb's let me know that YEP.. it's still there and still working. I just have to get my head in the game again. Now that the pool is closed up, I'm not getting the daily exercise I did. Too cold and rainy for the trikke yet and with Ethan I can't leave to go walking at the indoor track. By the time he goes home I have evening stuff and am worn out. I know, I know.. excuses.. I really need to get upstairs to my "gym" and get to it.

Such a sleepy, dreary day. zzzzzzzzzzz

Couple others I thought of are:

Goodbye Girl

Sex and the City

River Runs Through It (Brad Pitt as Tristian...OMG, now that is some yummy goods)

Fargo is awesome too . . . I should have had that one on my list. I am not always into bloody films . . . but this one is just so twisted and riveting.

I should have mentioned most Quentin Tarantino films are great. If you have never seen Four Rooms before . . . it is a must see. I really wasn't so crazy about Reservoir Dogs . . . too much blood and not enough plot.

As far as Natural Born Killers is concerned . . . it is a whole lot more than just a shoot-em-up. It has real style and is also riveting. You just stayed glued to the screen the whole time. I would say it fits in the same class as Tarantino flicks or Fargo. Also it has Juliette Lewis in it . . . she is awesome and one of my personal favorite actresses.

I also like What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Leonardo DiCaprio shows a whole different side to his acting abilities in that one (and of course there is Juliette Lewis as well).

Hello and welcome Blund :0)

I like Juliette Lewis, but I HATE Terintino movies. I can't make it through a Kill Bill. May be why I've not seen Natural Born Killers then :/

Judy, you and I have complete opposite tastes it seems.

Tell Bobster that Debbie Does Dallas is one of Russ' favs too.. har har, I kid.. I doubt he even knows what it is!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
