thepinkalleycat 0 Posted September 3, 2009 I was banded on July 14th. I have lost only 32 pounds since one week before surgery. I'm scared that I made the wrong choice and should have had gastric bypass. I eat right and excercise. I go for another fill on Sept 9th. Anyone have any suggestions.:blushing:
elsiesmommy 0 Posted September 3, 2009 I was banded 7-23...its slow but thats kind of the point. At least for me, I wanted the band so that I would have slower weight loss. I wanted to give not only my body but my mind time to adjust to the new size/life. besides 32 pounds in less than 2 months is fast and amazing! Why would you regret any weight loss? melinda_205 0 Posted September 3, 2009 AlleyCat, 32 lbs is great! It hasnt been 2 months yet. I was banded on 7-1-09 and have lost 28. Personally I think you are doing really good. At first I thought I should be shedding weight faster too but now when I think about it, that is 14 pounds a month for me! I'm happy with that amount. If I can keep that up for a while or at least until I can see a difference I'm happy! I would love to wake up and it all be gone but since I know that isnt gonna happen, I just use the time to try to adjust to all the changes that I am going through. Good Luck! hopeful27 0 Posted September 3, 2009 I was banded on the 7/14/09. I've only lost 28 lbs and been playing with 2 lbs up and down the last couple of weeks. I had a fill last week and my appetite is wayyyy down. I think you are doing great. I don't know how much you have to lose but it seems like the ones that lose too fast have problems with stretched skin afterwards. Another topic - does anyone have pain in their right side close to their port? Seems like just when I'm standing. Not sure what it is?
Mari H 0 Posted September 3, 2009 Hi I was banded July 7. I lost 15 lbs. Then had my first fill Aug 4 and I only had the restirction feeeling for one day. Since then for most of August I have been losing two pounds, gaining to pounds. I'm very frustrated with the band. 32 pounds is great. I wish I could say the same. I'm going to see the surgeon next week. Let's hope I get another fill.
audjbr 0 Posted September 3, 2009 Hi All, I was banded July 15th and have lost about 24 pounds...I am jealous of the 32 you have lost:tt2:! That is great!! I just had my first fill Tuesday of this week and he only put barely 1 cc in...said from the fluroscope thing that it looked tight to begin with. I do get that food backed up in the throat feeling after eating sometimes..but seems since my 'fill', that I am more hungry!! maybe that will pass. My doctor reiterated that you are only suppose to lose 1-2 pounds a week which is like 52-104 pounds a year..so if you think of it like that..you've lost 32!! So you are definitely doing great! I know I know..we all want to see 5 pounds a week gone, but remember, we chose the lapband and it's a slower, steadier weight loss surgery than gastric...so you (and me for that matter) need to be patient. Hope that helps! Mari H 0 Posted September 3, 2009 I do get that food backed up in the throat feeling after eating sometimes..but seems since my 'fill', that I am more hungry!! Hi, My Dr told me the first fill doesn't last long. For me, it lasted one day. So frustrating:frown:! As for the feeling you have in your throat, does it feel like something is stuck? Sometimes I feel that and feel that drinking Water will help. BUt it feels like the Water gets stuck too. What 's this feeling? Mari H
audjbr 0 Posted September 3, 2009 My Doctor said that he didnt think it was my food getting stuck, but just when I eat it takes a little while to go through the stoma that it will stay in my throat....something like that. It's uncomfortable and it's only a few bites before it does that..but then an hour later I am starving again! I could tell when he did the feel..I could feel that tight feeling when it was too tight..so that's why my doc only put in 1 cc...my next appt is in 6 weeks..but he said if I need to come back sooner just to call. I can't eat much at once..but just get hungry soon afterwards. so guess I wasnt lucky enough to hit that sweet spot with one fill..lol
rachieboom 0 Posted September 3, 2009 Any weight loss is better than none at all or even gaining, so you should be happy and be patient. Are you exercising? You need to be exercising hardcore in order to see better results. At the same token, with exercise, your body will begin to change drastically. I got banded on May 11, started my pre-op on May 1 and to date have lost 60 lbs. It is not because I was extremely overweight, it is due to my change of lifestyle and my commitment to exercising everyday for 3 hours. I never had a stomach or hanging fat, so I am lucky, but my body is becoming tight and muscular. While I understand that I push it to the extreme, having some sort of strict regimen will automatically push you into a zone, a healthy one. You will feel better, see a change in your body, WANT to eat super healthy and begin to lose the weight. I never had any health issues and am 35, so I can do any form of exercise, but now am in love with it and can't go a day without it. Nice to be called a 'gym rat' or 'skinny bitch'. Good luck and let me know if anyone has any questions. -Rachel
