Any late AUGust BANDERS.....

Recommended Posts

OMG....had my band on 8-28 and have felt good. There r some days that I feel bad and good. It's funny because for some reason or other I feel this urge to eat normal food. Since i'm still on liquids (uuugggg) I have gotten a nugget from my daughters plate....chewed it really well....then spit it out. I know this sounds very gross but it's some kind of satifaction to my brain. I am very guilty today....had a small piece of hersheys in my mouth. I waited for it to all melt and then swolled it....crazy stuff man... well hope you all are recovering fast....

I was banded on 8/24 and I'm rolling right along. I'm doing egg substitute and applesauce for Breakfast, yogurt for lunch, Protein Bar for snack and tuna salas for dinner. Of course, it's about 2-3oz each meal, but still. Eating very slowly and chewing everything until it liquifies in my mouth helps, and makes it more enjoyable.

I've had some discomfort with the gas pain in my shoulders, and i kind of fell like I have a constant cramp-type pain where my port is, but the pain is fading away more and more each day.

I've been walking quite a bit, and I tried working out a couple days ago - big mistake! Everything is connected to the abdomen, and after less than a set of bench presses I was cooked. I think I'll just wait until I'm all healed up... :-)

Good luck!!

Hey, I was banded on 8/24, too! I've been feeling pretty darn good and I'm glad about it. I've walked pretty consistently (except yesterday when I got a new computer and played w/it instead of walking) and that has helped me a lot, I think.

If you're tired and you have the time, I hope you're taking all the time you can to rest. You have the best excuse in the world for taking it easy right now! The first few days, I'd sleep 8-10 hours at night, wake up and almost immediately take another 2 or 3 hour "nap." LOL. I don't seem to need that nap anymore, though.

As for eating, yeah, I could stand to. But on the other hand, I want to be able to report to my surgeon tomorrow that I have been compliant w/his directions. So I've been as good as I could be. Let's keep in touch, OK?

And thanks for reminding me about my chewable vitamin! I just took it! :blushing:

I was banded on the last day of August, so I guess I fit this thread.

I feel pretty well considering I was banded Monday. I am still really sore, but getting around pretty well. I've been walking twice a day, once in the evening and once in the morning. I had to take some MOM this morning because of no activity, but feel better now. It is just going to take some time for me to heal and get back to normal.

I am doing my 3 ounces of shake now, every three hours. I am also drinking Water and trying to get in about 8 ounces every hour or so, but it is hard. Last night I had three ounces of Tomato Soup, and it tasted so good! I have lots left over so I may try a little bit again today.

Keep up the great work, everyone! We can do this!:blushing:

Hi

I have been banded for one week. The 27th was my surgery day. I am feeling well and managing the liquid diet although it is extremely boring. I am trying to keep up with the Protein Shakes ( I am supposed to get 65 grams a day) and I am not making my quota. I am also having trouble with eating. I am not hungry. I actually went yesterday to get some whipped ice cream (soft serve) to mix with the Protein Powder because I had been so far behind my quota and that didn't even taste good. I have been the biggest caffeine addicted person I know and even morning coffee has turned me off. This past week has been crazy. I have been eating sugar free Jello a lot but that is about it. I went to the supermarket the other day and wasn't even tempted to look at anything. I do not know who I am. Scary and excited all together. Lost 10.8 lbs since the 27th.

Hi

I was banded on the 27th. First week behind me and looking forward to next few weeks with a little more freedom food wise. I am having trouble getting my Protein in and frankly, I am not hungry. My morning coffee which I lived for, does not even taste the same. I am feeling stronger and went back to work so I think I am doing fine. Hoping to keep up the progress.

Hi

Wow I can't believe you are getting to eat already. My surgery post-op diet is very restrictive. For the first two weeks I can only have liquids and then weeks 3 and 4 the food has to be pureed. Soft foods are introduced at the end of week four for the next two weeks. Are you tolerating what you are eating?

Cindy I can so relate. I was banded the beginning of August and I must say the first two week post-op liquid diet was the hardest part for me. I was ticked that I had done this to myself, I wanted food. Not burgers, fries and pizza....just a scrambled egg or pudding. I was in a bad place! Luckily my mom had LB two years ago and she kept telling me once you get past the two weeks you will feel so much better, hang in there. She was right, I am going into week 4 and I feel so much better, and I can eat now (soft foods) I get my first fill on the 9th. Eventually I think I will come to love "Lola" as she helps me on this journey, but right now I only like her a little...lol!

I was banded 3 days ago, August 31. Woke up this morning feeling alot better. I was able to sleep on my side last night and feel like I got some good sleep. Not hungry at all and am having to force myself to drink. I am so excited to see others at the same place as me. We will soooo get our skinny on!

I was banded on Aug. 26th

Can't wait to be able to eat even the mushies...I think the 10 day clear liquid diet for pre-op and now these 2 weeks of liquid are a bit long...but we did this to ourselves and now this is our chance to fix it and be healthy.

Good Luck fellow August Bandsters...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
