Available Lap Band Buddy / Mentor I am on call.

Recommended Posts

My name is Amy. I have been on this site for 2 years, and posted more than my profile says. For some reason I had to create a new account. I am 35 years old. I live in BC, Canada. I have lost 80 pounds so far. My goal is to lose another 10. I don’t want to be ubber thin; I just want to be happy in my skin.

I am married to my first love, we have been together for 19 years. (He is cute!) We have a daughter who is 12, and going into middle school. My whole family is supportive of my decision to get a lapband.

Currently I am on leave, so I am available at anytime. (I have a BlackBerry! And I love to email from it, so communication is easy for me.)

I was banded almost 2 years ago. At first I had dreams of going from 250 to 125! I am not saying that I won’t get there, but I am willing to take my time, and enjoy the experience. I understand it isn’t a race.

I am well versed in many stages of the lapband journey.

Before I got my lapband I was fearful of actually losing the weight. I hid behind my fat. What was I going to do without my shield? I also had feelings of failure, because I was not able to lose weight on my own. I was also scared to give up food. (I love food.)

I went through ‘Bandster Hell’, and I remember it very well. I did everything I could to take care of myself, but nonetheless it was a difficult ride at times.

Getting fills and losing weight. This is the fun part, but it can also be the most frustrating part. I know I have been there, and continue to visit at times. Can you say: ‘Slow loser, no loser, reverse loser’?

I understand what it feels like to have a band complication. My band has flipped over. I am going in for surgery on September 23. I am totally at peace, because I know it is going to be okay.

I was mentored when I was first banded. I just want to give back.

Hi Amy,

I hope you still have a little free time to mentor, man I neeeed it! I've had my band for 1 year this August. I had a difficult time for the first six months getting to the correct fill level. By the time we got it right, I pretty much lost my motivation. My journey to get my band was sooo easy compared to what most people go through I really feel like a slug for not doing better than I have. I also have an awesome husband who was very supportive and excited to see me do well. I feel like I've let him down too. I know I have to move forward, no other option. Just need some support and motivation. I would truly appreciate any time and advise might have. It sounds like you've done a great job!! Thanks Kelly

Wow! I guess I really am as bad as I thought I was at this whole "blogging" thing. I was really happy to hear from you, I just have no idea where to look for an email?

My private message box says 0. Not sure what I doing wrong. :w00t:

Amy, so you are a slow loser? I was banded 4/14/09 and have lost 12 pounds - which was the first week after surgery. I have not lost anything since - in fact this week I am up 3 pounds ??? Doing the same thing. I have had 3 fills and still don't have the "sweet spot" people talk about - I have 6cc's in and wonder if I'll ever get there. I eat about 1000 to 1200 calories a day which is what they said I should have. The only food I have problems with is real bread - can only have a nibble. Everything else no problem - I can eat meat, chicken, pork, fish etc.. not an issue. So I don't know what is wrong - I am starting to lose my motivation like Kelly is talking about. Wondering why not just live on ice cream and Cookies - not having them now - eating good food and still not losing so why not? But I haven't given in ---yet--- I go for another fill this Thursday (9/17) hopefully this will be it - They told us during our 6 month classes that the first year is easy the weight just comes off - after that you have to work at it and exercise like everyone else?? If this is easy what will the next year be like? Thanks for listening.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
