September Surgery date!!

Recommended Posts

Ok....i got a call yesterday that my surgery is scheduled for Sept 14th. I am so excited and very nervous at the same time which I guess is expected. I have wanted this for so long and I finally took the steps. I am just so nervous about going under anesthesia!! All I can think about is what if I don't wake up or if something else horrible happens during surgery. Even though I have this whole fear I am def. going to do it. I have been big all my life and it's time for a BIG change. I don't want to be the fat girl no more!!!

Congrats on your date I go in on Friday and can't wait.

Also just so you know there is a Yahoo group that a lot of the Sept bandsters are joining to keep in touch, share, support etc..

It is open for those in Aug, Sept and Oct being banded.

Here is the site to go and join if any of you like. :blushing:

I just got my approval letter from the insurance company on Friday, Sept. 4th. I hope to talk to the surgeon's office on Tuesday in regards to a surgery date. I have a mandatory class that I must attend and after that class, they issue the surgery date. HOPEFULLY I will have a late Sept, early-mid October date!! CONGRATS to all of you Sept. bandees!

I'm getting my band on 9-13! that has got to be a lucky number for me as both of my kids had that number in sports. I am very nervous and excited at the same time. I am not afraid of the anesthesia . It always makes me feel so rested when I come out of it. My biggest fear is not having my little yorkie jump on my stomach for a week. That's going to be hard to do. My whole life I've dealt with weight. Every wish I make is "to be thin".

Now my wishes will come true. I can't wait to tuck in my blouse.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
