should_be_working 0 Posted September 1, 2009 My 7 year old fell, hurt herself and was crying. I picked her up without even thinking about it and set her on the kitchen counter so that I could inspect the injury. She's the one who reminded me that I'm not supposed to lift her. Oops. I didn't feel anything pulling or ripping. I'm not taking any pain meds right now and am only a little sore, but I could kick myself and I'm crossing my fingers that I didn't do any damage. She's fine, btw.
sandiegokate 0 Posted September 1, 2009 Hi Sally, Oh Nooooooo!! Well, I think you would have felt it... I have had a problem picking up my dog's poop when I've been taking her for a walk so I can imagine. Or picking anything up off the floor just is a killer. I went to the pool at the gym today and just moved around mostly but afterward I "felt" it! I tell ya, this thing has hit me a big harder than I expected. I know I will get better day by day but I still get "the pains" here and there and that feeling where I really need to sit down. I bet the hiatal hernia repair and scar tissue removal adds extra time to healing. I know you had the hiatal hernia repair too. I hope in a week I am feeling much better, as that is when I start going to work (I am technically working from home now). Well, don't do that again.. listen to your little girl!!
mommyx2 0 Posted September 1, 2009 well the main thing is no one got hurt bad... try your hardest to not pick her up... normally she wouldnt need to be picked up.. it was a circumstance. I have a two year old and he is about thirty pounds and it is impossible not to pick him up. We are moms... we dont get a break!
Threeboys3 0 Posted September 1, 2009 Hopefully everything will be fine. I have 20 month old twin girls that have lived with DH and I since they were born and it tears me apart that they keep walking up to me saying. "up TT, up TT" (They call me TT). They weight over 20 pounds a piece and I just can't yet. It's so tempting though. My five month old just barely meets the cutoff my Dr. gave me of 15 pounds. He's almost 15 but not quite there so I do carry him around. Who can not NOT pick up their new baby???
