I was banded a month ago. I am now experiencing the heaviest period I have had in YEARS! It is also going for longer (going on 5th day instead of my normal 2-3 day periods). I have PCOS so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it as it has and still is controlled by BC. I just wanted to see if this is due from the surgery or the weight loss? I have lost 20 pounds so far. I am 29 so menopause isn't the culprit. Not a big issue but just curious as to why the sudden change.

Thats normal. Surgery actually triggered my period and it lasted a whopping 10 days and even then it was still messy when I pee'd and had to wipe. Not to be too graphic. But I asked and was told that its normal, I'm 28 so no menopause here either. You would think they squeezed our uterus while they were in there or something.

I am having the same issues. I don't really know why this happens but glad to hear it wasn't just me. Mine were light before but not so much now.

I am currently on my 4th day and it is still a lot. The cramp is still here too. May be because we lost weight and our body is working properly again?

It's not just me! I too have a heavier period that lasts nearly an entire week. To make matters worse, my band is tighter as well. I now lose weight during my period, so I guess that's the bonus:)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
