Should just stay on mushies this week?

Recommended Posts

Most of you know I was sick all week and didn't have much of an appetite but I tried eating but couldn't get alot down before I felt nauseated. I got some sugar free Popsicles down and half of yogurt and Protein Shakes and Water. So I was supposed to start solid food yesturday but should I just stick to mushies for the week? I'm also kind of scared to start solids anyways, I don't wanna get sick again plus school is starting soon

If you stick to mushy foods because you're scared, then you're going to make it a habit to eat them because they are "easier" to eat. You need to get on solid foods and just remember to chew it really well and take small bites. If you stick with slider foods, you won't lose weight likeyou're supposed to and you won't stay full as long as you should

Erin -

When I progressed to solids my doctor had me go through a period of "softer" solids, like meatloaf - he said to go a few days with nothing "crunchy". That might be a good way for you to progress.

If I were you I think I would call and talk with your doc's office - find out what they want you to do as I'm sure they know what has been going on with you. They can really advise you best.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
