Successful with one fill?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone been very successful with one fill. I am debating on getting a second fill as the weight loss has slowed down. But I feel comfortable right now and nervous that if I get another fill it might cause problems or be harder for me to adjust to eating even less (in front of other people). I have noticed some people on here who have lost a good amount of weight, I did as well but not as much as them in the same amount of time. Does that mean I should get another fill?

you should get a fill when u notice you are able to eat more than the suggested amout. for me my doctor suggests not eating more than 12 ounces a meal for steady weight loss. ive noticed ive gotten used to having no fill in my band and i can eat a bit more. my first fill is actually tomorrow. 1 month after surgery.

It also depends on what size fill you get. My dr. told me that I had 2cc at the time of surgery and then added another 3 at the first fill to bring it to 5 cc. I am having my second appointment this Friday and I think I will be getting a small addition. Sometimes I am hungry but I am nervous that much more in the band I will be getting stuck too often. But I am losing and feeling great. I have read a lot of people who only get 2 cc's at the first fill and their dr. may add only a little at each fill so it takes them several fills to get to where I am at one fill. Who knows why?

Talk to your doctor about what he suggests. You may be comfortable where you are but it seems that your body is telling you that it has gotten used to the fill, and may need another. Talk to your doctor about doing small fills if you are worried about being overfilled. But now that your loss has slowed down, don't let it stop :) This is the time to keep the loss going! Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
