So, band was left empty after surgery on June 9.

July 27, first fill 4.25cc. Was great for a week, then all hunger was back in full force, I would eat, mostly Protein, and 1-2 hours later hungry again.

August 28, 2nd fill 2.5cc, which now puts me at 6.75cc in a 10cc band. Yahoo.. OMG went to IKEA today, ordered the Kids Swedish Meatballs. It comes with 5 1 inch meatballs, mashed potatoes and applesauce. I ate 4 of the meatballs, just dabbed in the applesauce for juiciness and flavoring. Ate 2 little bites of the mashed potatoes, and I was STUFFED. Here it is now 9 hours later, and I am still full. I have been sipping my protein liquids all day, bullet with Water and crystal lite, and i know I need to eat something, because it is way past dinner time, but I just don't know.

WOW, If this is what restriction is like... I LOVE IT.

That's great! I am SOOOOO looking forward to being where you are. I also had surgery 6/9. My first fill was 7/31 2cc, which did nothing. Second fill 8/28 1cc which is not feeling any different. My surgeon said next fill will be 0.5 or 1cc depending on how I'm doing. (I'm losing weight fine, but it's willpower so far!). It's a little frustrating to not have restriction yet. I know, I'll get there and waiting really is the hardest part. At .5 cc/fill, it could take a while to get there. Maybe that's what I'll tell Santa I want for Christmas.

Wow..i hope my 2nd fill is better. I have an 11cc band...my first fill was 5cc's. I still feel i can eat way too much--dont feel much restriction. I have to wait 6 weeks before my next fill...i hope that one does the trick. Havent really lost anything lately..playing with the same 1-2 lbs up and down for a couple of weeks now!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
