pre-op diet leg pain/headaches?

Recommended Posts

I am 4 days into my pre-op diet and have a throbbing pain in the back of my thigh, like a pulled muscle feeling. Does anyone know why this is? I know I am not drinking enough, could that be? I also have at least 1-2 headaches each day.

Try getting enough Water and eating all you're allowed; if you don't feel better on Monday call your surgeon.

Thanks, I will call on Monday. I am going to try some quinine and see if that helps. I read it could be from lack of carbs/sugar or caffeine.

I noticed that you had surgery and did not get banded because of yoru liver. Did you loose weight before hand? Did you have a pre-op diet?

I have lost 30 pounds on my own since June and now I am on my pre op diet, do you think that could happen to me?

I didn't follow my surgeon's preop diet and did my own thing. I lost 15 pounds, but not the right way. So I always tell people to do what their docs tell them and they'll be fine! Once I did what my doc said I got the band just fine!

I'm not sure about the pulled muscle feeling, but the headaches could definitely be due to lack of Water, calories, and other nutrients. I'm on liquids because I just had my second fill, and today I irresponsibly did not have a Protein shake or drink anything all morning or early afternoon. Then around 2PM I went for a 9 mile bike ride and when I was finished, I had a HORRIBLE headache and was dizzy and dehydrated. I chugged a bottle of Water, got home, rested for a few minutes, and then made my Protein Shake and felt worlds better after drinking it.

Good luck and make sure you are eating your recommended amount from your surgeon every day!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
