anyone eat fast food yet?

And I'm wondering if those are the same people eating at Micky D's and slurping down the Spagetti-Os?

What's wrong with Spagetti'O's (if you were replying to me because I've posted that I eat them). They are low in fat (1gram) and have Protein. I'm not on a low carb diet. I'll suck them down as long as my Dr. says it's ok.

As far as fast food, I agree with melmarlem post regarding fast food. I have five kids at home and work full time, sometimes as much as I 'plan ahead' one of the kids games into overtime, I get stuck at work, etc. It's unavoidable and I'm just trying to learn what's the best option at a fast food place. I have a book I carry in the car that is called Stop & Go a fast food nutrition guide that helps me understand what I should eat (green light), what I should eat cautionly (yellow light) and what I should never eat(red light) at many FF restaurants.

We are ALL in different situations and I wouldn't be quick to judge anyone here. We are all on this journey and trying to be here for one another.

oh no.. im sorry i even started this thread... I live in reality...and in my reality.. sometimes fast food is the only choice. I just think this forum is a good place to feel comfortable and share ideas whether good or bad. Not to be repremanded. Alot of people are only honest on here. xoxoxo

The nutritionist at my surgeon's office specifically mentioned the small chili from Wendy's as a good choice! I've had it once, just because I could, LOL. But I was never a fast food person in the first place....Any mother will commiserate with the memory of a child DEMANDING to get a Happy Meal....that did it for me as far as fast food. I just don't like it much and so I didn't miss it in the first place. The closest I come is Moe's. I get a salad with grilled chicken, salsa, black Beans and I have my own light chipotle ranch dressing.

I am sure any specialist/dietician/nutritionist would agree with me in that if you dont personally prepare something you have NO CLUE what is actually in it.

Fast food got us ALL where we are today and there is very little healthy fast food out there- Even if you go to Nature's Table or a Natural food place... There are TONS of hidden carbs, sugars preservatives etc....

Look up the nutritional content on one of the salads at wendy's, mcdonalds or even burger king- Loaded with hidden sodium and sugars not to mention god knows what else they dont list.....

I have avoided fast food and don't miss it

Fast food didn't get me where I am today, I am in a little different situation than many of you. I am 45 and have been living alone and cooking meals for a family when I don't have one! I don't have kids to run after, I don't go to school at night, I am not THAT busy compared to many of you all. I love to cook, and I cook quite healthy, but I just eat too much of it!

I am not a big fast food person, never have been... its the grocery store that is my demon. If I had a family to eat all I have cooked and baked, and ate the ice cream I bought over the years, I could possibly be a different person.

Its all about calories in and calories out. I am the person who is probably better off eating out and having Portion Control. Then spend the extra time I have from not cooking/baking exercising!!

We are ALL in different situations and lives and we need to figure out what it is that helps us out as individuals, its not a one size fits all approach. Everyone has to find out what works in their life. I hope each and every one of us finds out what works and is very successful.

I have not touched fast food since I commenced my pre-op diet and I don't plan on touching it any time soon; to those of you who are already eating fast food and doing it on a regular/recurring basis, I sincerely hope it doesn't affect your journey in the wrong way but I would not be in the least bit surprised if it does.

Just an observation - Geographics play a part in choosing to eat fastfood or not. I live in a rural area and I have to drive 1.5 hours to get to a "real" restaurant. If I am having a busy day (which happens often), I don't see why I can't have 1 taco from taco bell (it only has 4 or 5 WW points, I think) or an egg mcmuffin from mcdonalds. I just don't see how that will sabatoge me ???????

Sounds like a few of you need a WAKE UP call. Good for you if you choose not to eat fast food. My nutritionist allows me to have 1/2 cup of Wendy's chili...so what? Is that a crime? I think not...get real!

As I said before, what's the difference between a scrambled egg made at home or a scrambled egg made at Mickey D's? A baked potato made at home or one from Wendy's? An egg is an egg and a potato is a potato. It's not like we're slurping down chocolate shakes and munching on french fries. I live in the REAL world!

I find it hard to believe that a rural area has every fast food outlet under the sun available but no actual restaurants.

A potato may be a potato, an egg may be an egg, but you don't really know what they're smothering that potato with or what they're cooking that egg in before it makes it onto your plate.

I do live in the real world, I work very long hours on a mine site and I know what it's like to be tired and feel like you can't be assed to cook tonight - but I do this thing called pre-planning and time management. Each weekend I cook at least one to two meals in the slow-cooker (chop it up, chuck it in, it cooks itself) and freeze them. I also always have on hand healthy alternatives such as tins of tuna, tubs of low fat yoghurts/custards/fruits, eggs that can be scrambled for a simple dinner.< /span>

I'm not saying I am a saint and won't EVER touch fast food again, I just REFUSE to 'plan' to eat it or consider it a part of my regular routine and I honestly think anyone who is already doing this after going through the time, effort, expense and pain that we've just been through is really silly.

I think that claiming that you must eat out every day, or every other day is nothing short of a cop out and people making excuses for their own inability to be planned and organised.

Try harder, you owe it to yourself.

MissK- I see that we were banded on the same day-August 18, 2009. We've lost about the same amount of weight- I've been eating fast food (good healthy choices of course)... I must not be failing yet.

Ehh. I give up. I will continue to do what I think is best for me and for my success. :sneaky:

You know what I love - people are willing to act as if McDonalds and Wendys and places like that are pure evil, but they will go eat at other "restaurants" that aren't fast food.

Let me tell you - just because there is table service doesn't mean you're in the clear.

WHATEVER you eat, and wherever you eat it from, you need to be aware of it, manage it, and (for me) track it. I can do that even with an occasional plain chicken sandwhich from the drive-thru or whatever.

Whether you're making food at home, driving through, or sitting down with a menu and a server taking your order, you have to be responsible for your food choices. Period. In ANY of those situations, a person can make choices that are bad or choices that are good.

The trick is to make the right choices, regardless of the venue.

If you turn over the power to the establishment (fast food places are evil! they made us all fat!) you are not taking personal responsibility and claiming the power of your own choices.

I mostly stick with whole foods and I have only had fast-food very infrequently. I've lost 76 pounds and feel great. I'm fine with my choices. No need for anyone to pity my poor, poor doomed soul. LOL I suppose if doing so makes you feel righteous, then go right ahead - it doesn't change anything with regard to me making my own path...

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
