Stressed Out over Stress Test!

Recommended Posts

I'm about to go crazy over my stress test. Here's my background on 7/22/09 I wnet for my bike stress test but it was stopped because they found out that I have a left bundled branch block. I was advised that I would have to see a heart specialist. So today I went in to do my stress test (on the treadmill) with the heart specialist. I was there for 3 hours and didn't have the test done. I did get another EKG and a sonogram done. The doctor said that I had go come back to do a cardiac nuclear imaging on Monday. Is ther anyone out there that has a left bundled branch block and had to do the nuclear stress test? I'm stressing out now because if I don't pass I won't be able to get the surgery right?

Please anyone HELP!:w00t:

I did have the necular stress test and I have a few things wrong as well as a leaky valve. My cardiologist gave me the okay for surgery as well as his recommendation. I am sorry I don't know exactly what it is you have; but, there are some good nurses on here that can answer your questions. Just call the office and ask them to ask the doctor would surgery necessarily be rulled out if you have a left bundled branch blockage. Mine called me right after the test and said he would okay the surgery and then I came in a week later for the complete results. I was too nervous to wait. I was stressed too but see what the cardiologist has to say.

Thanks for the reply, I think I will give the doctors office a call and see that he has to say. Thanks again for your help.

Hello there, go ahead and ease your mind, I went through the same thing last week, I have a right branch bundle block, and from what I understand it is a electical problem with your heart, but it does not effect blood flow, as far as the nuclear stress test, i had that done yesterday, and its not hard, you walk on a treadmill and when you reach your target heart rate they inject this radioactive Fluid in your I.V. and then you wait 45 minutes and they take pictures of your heart, its not painful, but I got a metal taste in my mouth after it, but I think you will be ok, just talk to your doctor and get a better understanding of what is going on, and be glad that they are taking precaution before surgery.

I also got stressed about my stress tests which I "failed" 3 of them. Had to postpone my surgery because they wanted me to do the nuclear stress test. Passed! I am glad they were concerned and very glad I passed as I was starting to worry because heart disease runs in the family. Hang in there.

Well, I had my stress test this morning and it was a breeze. I got sick and had to use the trash can but besides that it wasn't hard or painful at all. I get my results on Friday, I'm praying for a "go ahead" with surgery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
