Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor SLOW weight loss, need encouragement!

Recommended Posts

I am getting soooo discouraged! I haven't lost 20lbs in the first year!! I don't feel to much restriction, but am definately eating less. I can not believe that I have not lost more! My eating habits have changed drastically. Comparing what I did eat before the band, to what I eat now I would think the weight would just fall off!!

Dont give up and hang in there..I have regained my weight and it sucks...I rather take the slow weight loss then the gain... Keep up with your fill as needed and talk to people. .. After losing weight and buying new clothes it was great, what stinks is gaining the weight, feeling lousy and buying clothes again cuz I threw my old ones away!

Hoping for more...............how's your restriction? It's great you've been able to change your eating habits, that is a big part of it, but for each of us, it's a combination of calories, exercise, and stick-to-it-tiveness. If you read the posts, you'll see people that have lost more than a hundred pounds and the key for them is having the proper restriction and mind set.

I'm new in this journey and know I don't have enough restriction yet, so until that happens, I'm plugging away...not perfectly, but continuing on.

You can do it too....the tool can work and you can do this.

Sorry that you are struggling- you have come to the right place for some help and encouragement.

Perhaps if you start off by listing an average day's food & drink consumption it will give a good idea of how much restriction you have.

How many fills have you had & what is your exercise regime?

I am sure that the helpful people here will be able to help.

Sue.

ok- so instead of wondering why the weight isn't coming off can you start journaling exactly what you eat- calories, Protein for a few days and then figure out how many calories you are really getting? then you may be able to plan some more changes in your eating to accomplish more quicker. The fact that the weight has stayed off is aweosme. you're almost there..Alot less really has no meaning unless you know the value of alot less? This means journaling everything you eat and drink so you can have control over what you eat and drink...I know this is a pain but to achieve success you have to do a little work. You may also need a fill?

Thank you to everyone for your support! In reading the replies, as well as some info from this website, I am certainly encouraged! I do try to eat Protein first, but I am realizing that some of the foods I eat may be slipping thru the band. ie: Cottage cheese, yogurt. I am trying to figure it all out. I rarely eat bread, that was my favorite food group before the band! The funny thing is I really don't miss it! I don't eat to many sweets...I will keep working on it! Thank you for your replies!:)

I too could use a lap band buddy/mentor....I was banded on 8/14/07 and to date have lost only 50 pounds. I have still at least 20-30 pounds to goal!!! My doc says that I have done well and ahead of the normal weight loss for this time period but I too am getting discouraged!! Just wanna give up..... Thanks!!!

Joe, what happened? What went wrong? Did you have to have the band removed? I'm sorry you gained your hard work back. . . try again. . .

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
