I just started law school and I have a backpack that is pretty heavy. I just had surgery 3 1/2 weeks ago. I got a rolling backpack as to not lift much weight. However there are stairs that unavoidably I have to lift my backpack up. I have been trying my best to roll my backpack up the stairs without straining too much. The other day while doing this I felt fine, but the next day I had a small lump under my port. I was concerned so I called my patient facilitator and she told me not to worry that as long as my incisions weren't red or leaking and I wasn't spiking a fever not to worry about it. Well, I had to do this again today and now that I am home the lump under my port is bigger and that side of my stomach is extended out. Did I do serious damage? What should I do? I am starting to regret this decision to get the surgery before I went back to school. :w00t:

Holla! 3L here. I hope all is well with you. 1 week post op I carried some heavy grocery bags. I felt weird but definitely not the distended port area you speak of.

My post-op instructions were not to lift anything for the first 2 weeks after surgery, then i could resume normal lifting. Since you were 3.5 weeks out of surgery, there's probably nothing to worry about, but I'd still call the MD again to mention that the swelling got a bit larger.

I was given strict instructions not to lift anything over 10 pounds for the first week and nothing over 30 for the first 4 weeks.

I am also a college student. Though, I am about a year away from my associates. Is there anyway you could leave a few books in the car and get them between classes? I guess being at a small campus does have it's perks.

I would def call and demand to see the doc if you have any concerns that aren't addressed over the phone.

Don't they have an elevator? You'd think they would for handicapped access. Use that until you heal, and call again on Monday if the swelling hasn't gone down.

I would FOR SURE get in to see the doc for this...just to be sure....you dont want to give yourself a hernia or something like that...that was one thing that they warned me about post op

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
