Lost Too Much Weight

Recommended Posts

Jollly Green, Good Luck but you may want to check out Good Will and other sources of gently used clothing even then. I had a 5X coat last winter ( pre surgery) . Am in a 2X coat now and still losing - next winter- who knows ( Hope it is smaller still)

Sue-

That is a great size loss...how exciting...do people walk pass you becasue they do not recognize you.

I would walk around with large clothes but DS flips out...I just am so happy and love swimming in my old clothes. BUT it is so cool to go to the old size and the store tells me...lady who are you shopping for and when I tell them ME...they walk me over to another size....priceless....but then I tell them that I was banded

I am six feet tall and the smaller size clothes, have been having a problem with length (arms and garment) so

I do not want any negative things and will wait.

Also, I work out of my home..so I can be picky since I drive in my heated car and can wear a shawl if necessary.

THIS TIME I do not care if I freeze my a$$.

LOL

Jolly, IF they haven't seen me in a while, they notice.I tried hanging onto some items, too but at work i kept hearing I needed new clothes ( Wearing 4X jacket when I was a 2 X) It is a rush to realize something doesn't fit anymore. I understand the size thing, in a way - I'm only 5-1; was almost at big around as I was tall. Admittedly, it is easier to shorten items than to lengthen them.

Sue-

There is an advantage to being shorter than me...If you knit and crochet as I do it is FASTER to complete.

No joke!!!! My best friend is shorter than me and asks me to make test samples, so she can keep....lol

Sue,

Kuddos to you!!! That's AMAZING weight loss!! You should be very, very proud. And I totally agree that it is a great feeling to get rid of the old clothes and actually buy ones that fit. For me it was a rush just clearing my closet of clothes that were too big.

Also, it has been better for my self-esteem to wear clothes that actually fit-- IMHO (that's my honest opinion Laura). Plus, it makes it a reality for me. This time there's no going back. In the past, I have held onto clothes, always saying, "Well, if I gain the weight back, I'll need them." Nope not this time. My closet was filled with clothes from size 7 to 24W. It's nice to wear jeans now and not wearing sweat pants all the time. I will be honest... I am not buying any new clothes right now b/c I don't know what my weight will be. I'm wearing clothes that I fit into a couple of years ago.

Good luck to you Laura on finding the perfect fit of clothing!

Sue~ WOW!! AWESOME!! Keep up the awesome work!! You are my inspiration!

In a little over two weeks I start my education classes. I'm very excited. I wish I could've had the surgery BEFORE Christmas but I am happy that the time is flying by. Good luck to you too, Pixieinyourpocket!! It looks like we will be only two weeks apart. Keep me updated on the status of your surgery date.

Same to you Sweetie and also to everyone here.

I just said in another post, that it is amazing to me how I will not be participating in the whole turkey dinner thing today, but I am enveloped in the spirit of Thanksgiving, with elation!

I am now starting my new life, and the hard work is in front of me, but truly I am so thankful for this surgery that today means more than it probably ever did before.

Turkey Hugs to everyone!

Bringing some food that was asked plus the turkey to SIL for Thanksgiving

While they eat till they get sick...I will be doing my crocheting and smiling since I am so much healthier since last Thanksgiving

We eat the Turkey

We should not look like the stuffed turkey

and that is priceless

Have a Happy Thanksgiving

GraciesMom,

I am reading this a bit late but it is really great to see you on here just two days after surgery! Congrats on your recent banding!! I am SO happy for you!! You are in great spirits and have such a positive attitude. That's AWESOME!!

Even though I am not banded YET, I personally feel like I have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season. I have been blessed with many wonderful "gifts." The surgery is truly a gift... a life-altering one that will save my life. I have been nostalgic lately and realized that this holiday season has more meaning to me than previous ones. I'm positive that in the future, the holiday season will be marked by my continued celebration of the new life I have been blessed with.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
