What are your NSV's ???

Recommended Posts

I know many of us are frustrated from time to time with that bloody scale...down 5 lbs then up 3, then down 1 and up 4...WTF !!! But I've read that post from previous bandsters on how exciting and motivating NSV (non-scale victories) can be over the actual numbers and thought it would be nice to share our own NSV's to motivate each other !!

Please come back again and again as you rack up those NSV's and start to look and feel fantabulous about yourself !!

I'll go first...yes Im only 2.5 weeks post but the fact that I have ankles again instead a swollen and puffy mutation of what ankles should be is beyond exciting for me !!! I am no longer ashamed to show them off in capri pants !! YAY !! :blushing:

I've had to punch two new holes in my belt and my shorts are still falling off. Stupid costco had shorts on sale about 2 months ago for like 7 bucks so I got all 5 colors and no non of them fit...:-) :-( I might be too poor to lose weight if I have to invest in clothes all the time.

I am a costco addict and I can't wait until I can fit into the clothes they have!!! That is one of my goals. It won't be for a while... but I will get there!!:sneaky:

I did a try on of all my pants today and all the 22's are loose.. woohoo!!!!!:wink2: I put them all in a pile and I'm going to donate them to Goodwill or Salvation Army as soon as possible.

Another NSV is that I already now have more room in my closet!! I can't wait until I am able to get rid of all the bigger sizes... I'm going to have SO much room! I have bins of clothes stacked in closets I can't wait to wear. One of my goals this weekend is to go through them all and organize them by size, it is exciting!!

gone are the 24's and 22's, just getting into the 20's, have gone from 3 x tops to 1 x... whoo hoo, have had to move the seat up in my car a couple times, and have had to have my glasses adjusted cause they kept falling off my face. Monday is for going through the closet, I have bought several new things, and a few that I am not in yet for incentive. I cant wait until i can get into 18's and larges but have a while to go for that one.

I have been asked several times "have you lost weight"? and my husband said my backside is getting smaller, my Shirts which were 18/20 are loser, and I have lost 10 inches all over my body, to include an inch off my lovely hips... I have a really big botty...

I can barely believe this, but I tried on a pair of size 16 slacks today and they fit. They FIT!!! I don't have any clothes smaller than a size 16, so it's gonna be clothes-buying time within a few weeks, I guess.

I'm not even 5' 6" tall. I weighed 242 pounds about 3 weeks ago. Whoa. Talk about a life-changing event.

My hubby is concerned about the junk in the trunk. He looks so sad. My booty and my face slimed down a lot. The thighs are another story !

NSV...

My feet aren't swollen

My face has slimmed down

I can close the cutton on my short sleeved shirts

I don't get out of breath going up the stairs.

The only thing that I have noticed is that I now have 2 chins instead of 3. I am kind of bummed because it seems like I have lost a lot of weight not to be able to tell, but I guess when you start out as larage as I am it takes a lot of loss to notice. My clothes fit a little better, too.

Just ran my first 5k and didn't come in last place! The race organizers posted pictures and it's amazing--I actually look like a "real" runner :w00t: It even took me a second to pick myself out in the crowd, and that has never been the case with a photo before!

• I can fit COMFORTABLY in my neighbor's kitchen chair... I always complained how the chair would "bite" me... not anymore!!

Actually.... lately, it's all been about chairs! I would always, always, ALWAYS size up a chair when I approached, to see if it was going to hurt to sit in it.

Apparently, I still have my "old eyes" in, because I think "there's no way I'm going to fit in that chair" and when I try, I slip right in, no problem!

Boothes in restaurants were problematic as well. Not anymore!

Even my OWN kitchen chairs (the two at the head of the table have arms on them, the other four do not) I can fit into without a problem!

AND.... the jeans that I put on a few months ago and couldn't get zipped up? Yeah..... they're getting loose!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
