Coridal and Artificial Sweeteners

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

This is a double post, i apologise but im not having much luck on the food and nutrition board :-)

Ok so, about 6 months ago i started having a huge amount of difficulty drinking Water. I have been a good girl for the 8 years with my band i drink my 2lts of Water every day but now i just can't stomach it, it is so bland and everytime i try and drink it my band tenses and it wont go down because i have come to hate drinking it so much.

I switched to a low sugar cordial that i have more diluted then it says on the packet and i am able to get my intake in that way but after having people say to me cordial is bad for you i am wondering if anyone knows is it ok to have cordial instead of plain water?

I mean i would think it would be better to have cordial then nothing but i dont want to look back in years with health problems because of it.

I have tried all the other things like puting lemon in the water and stuff but i hate it lol

Any advice would be appreciated.

Bel

P.S. im an aussie so a lot of products most of you use aren't avaliable to me here :-)

Sorry about the spelling mistake in the title!

Well, it its not one thing its another. Personally I wouldnt ingest artificially sweetened products day in day out in that quantity, it would freak me out. But I drink a glass of wine most nights and WAY too much coffee and I dont worry about THAT, so its just a matter of not having too many bad habits I guess.

I dont like plain Water a lot except if I've just run, so I do drink cordial occasionally, but its occasional enough that I drink full sugar. I'm a bit paranoid about artificial sweeteners.

lol something tells me i wouldn't want to be around when you run out of coffee Jack!

Unfortunatly for me i don't drink hot tea, coffee or anything herbal lol its either Water, iced tea or softdrink so i don't really get a lot of variety :-(

I appreciate you taking the time to post!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
