Feelings of restriction....

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I need some insight for those of you who have fills and are at restriction. I was banded with the Realize band on 07/07/2009. I went for my first fill on Monday, August 24, and had 3 cc placed. I just had more solid food tonight about 3 hours ago. I tried to evaluate how I was feeling while eating and noticed after finishing my portion that I "could" eat more, but I wasn't ravishening hungry. It is now 3 hours after I have eaten and I don't feel hungry. Is this the feeling I am looking for? Or am I looking to feel really full on just a few bites? This is what I had for dinner. I had less than 1/4 cup of Hamburger helper, 2 teaspoons corn and less than a 1/4 cup of salad, but I "could" have eaten more but didn't. My doctor told me that by Friday if I felt like I could polish off a whole hamburger when eating then I could schedule for another fill. So, I just don't know.

Thank you :blushing:) Paulette

"restriction " can be a hard thing to judge. And its different for alot of people. ME personally I would say what you have now is pretty good. In a week or so you might need a little more.

But me personally I dont and wotn keep my band so tight that I can only eat a FEW bites. THAT messes with my head too much and from what i have seen is usually TOO tight.

If your getting hungry after 3-4 hours after eating I would say your probably pretty good. You really dont want to eat so much that your stuffed. You want to eat until your satisfied. For me personally that is when im sitting there going " Should i eat more i COULD " that is when its time to stop . If you let it "Sit" for a while I usually find im "ful" . Hope that helps. Feel free to Email me if you like.

Mindy

Hi Paulette, I see you already got an answer to your question but I noticed that your meal was very high in carbohydrates. You will probably be more successful if you focus more on Protein. Protein will sustain you longer whereas the carbs turn to sugar and will cause you to have more head hunger.

Just a suggestion.

Thank you for your input, Donna. It really is hard to get in 60 grams of protein a day. I am still working out how to get all that in. I am going in Monday for another fill, so I think that will help as well. I have started logging on the Dailyplate again and my protein intake is a bit on the low side so far. So, Yes, I do need to step it up in that area.

Hi Mindy,

Thank you so much for responding. I went ahead and scheduled another fill for Monday. My doctor told me that if I am relying on willpower to stop, then I might need another fill. I know this is going to take some getting used to, but I know I can do it. Hopefully the next fill will give me more of a restriction.

Thank you so much!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
