Froggie D 1 Posted August 27, 2009 I am so happy for you! I am still waiting. It has been five weeks since I saw the surgeon and he said he would submit within a week for my approval. Insurance said they still have not gotten anything from him, but are helping me bug him to get it sent in. Very frustrating. I dream of the day I can post like you just did. Your new life is just ahead of you! :blushing:

thinoneday 445 Posted September 14, 2009 I'm going to ask a really stupid question right now and please forgive me if I offend or hurt anyone. . accept all apologies from now. . . here it goes. . . has anyone seriously been hurt or possibly died from the lapband surgery? I've seen episodes on the learning channel where people who are incredibly obese 600+ lbs get gastric bypass and die 2 weeks later or never recover from strokes. . .please let me know about this as this is yet another concern of mine before surgery. . . my dr says there are risks as in any surgery, but it is safe??? I've had 17 surgeries already but the 18th could do me in. . .lets chat!
kechianyree 0 Posted September 14, 2009 Your doc is right any surgery is a risk, the worst thing I've heard is having to have the band removed because her scar tissue grew around it. but I've never heard of anyone dying and all of the stories I've heard we're because people failed to think when things happen. nkara 0 Posted September 14, 2009 Erykah.... Any surgery is risky but the gastric bypass is a more invasive procedure. Of course with the lap band you have the risks they just aren't as high. Death is one, band slippage, vomiting, malnutrition etc are all risks ... ask your surgeon what the risks are and see if they can give you statistics from his office on them.
