Biggest Loser Fall 09

Recommended Posts

Well... when Alexandra was kicked off, they did the "look at her now". She said something about having a crush on someone (apparently on the show) and that she was too shy to say anything. She then said to wait and find out who it was.

I just caught the last 15 minutes of the show, but I thought Alexandra looked great with her 60 lb weight loss. Yay for her, and I'm glad she's has more confidence in herself.

So glad it is back on - I feel more motivated watching it - I think the love connection was Dan - did you notice how upset he was that people were voting her to go home?

I watched the show today, over the seasons I have caught a show or 2 perhaps, but to tell you the truth I didn't ever get into watching it. It made me squirm. so unhappy and uncomfortable with myself didn't want it in my face , now I must say I am inspired by watching it and will stick with it this season.

I did notice, and I felt bad for him. He is such a sweet, likable person. I also suspected he may be the "crush".

What a tear jerker last night. Abby touched my heart, Shay also did.

I agree, I think Dan is the "crush". How cute would they be together! Who needs the Bachelor when you have the Biggest Loser! lol.

I was kinda excited, there are two players from Oklahoma, Danny is from Broken Arrow (suberb of Tulsa) and Sean the youth pastor is from Tulsa - where I live. I have heard Oklahoma is one of the fattest states, I believe it. I just look around and everyone is overweight, its all the down home cooking they do around here.

Anyhow, thought it was a great show, but got tired of the F bomb being dropped too much. But besides that, I think this is going to be a good season.

Who is everyone's pick? Anyone have one yet? Still too soon for me to pick, but so far I like Abby. I guess I can relate to her being a mother, and I feel for her losing her entire family. I also am partial to Dan, he's an inspiration.

I was sobbing like a baby! So far my fave is Abby because of her attitude. She is obviously still suffering, though, and I'm not sure she doesn't need other type of help. Maybe this will be good for her, but I'm hoping it doesn't break her. I'd crack like a nut if that happened to my family. :) My heart really aches for her....

I still love Dan, though, too!

I stayed in Broken Arrow for a week as a kid and went horse back riding and went to the church of Christ there Lyle M was the preacher at the time a friend of our family. They had a one room school house there at the time population was only a few hundred

No picks yet for me. Frankly I never really care about the backstory, and so the sobbing doesn't win me over. I want to see how they act -On The Ranch-

That's all. Do they want it enough to get over themselves and kick their own rear? Tens of thousands of other people would gladly be where they are; will the contestants realize just what a gift they've been given?

I suspect this is why I never cared for Bob, and like Jillian's methods better.

At least this season we don't have to worry about blood ties messing up the game strategy.

I couldn't even make it past the opening introductions without crying - but that's just me.

Love the show - excited!

Did notice the increase in cussing - I was cracking up that the censors apparently no longer have an issue with the word bitch - i was like wow - don't think I remember hearing that on the show before.

Thank y'all for letting me in on the love crush might be Dan. I was thinking that they were all married but I was forgetting about Dan.

HAHA you sound like my husband, I was crying when the lady who lost her family told her story, and my hubby was looking at me like I'm nuts. (ok I am) hehehehhe

I haven't made any picks yet either.

Agreed! I don't have favorites either. It's a wait and see game for me.

yes, I am glad they aren't family teams.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
