Tommorrow is my big day! (The joys of miralax)

Recommended Posts

I never know how to start these posts.....

My name is Bill. I'm 31 years old, from Long Island, New York. I'm happily married, and have a 4 month old daughter.

Tommorrow, I will take the last/first step in my weight loss journey, I'm getting the lap band.

It's been a long road. I've been heavy my whole life....the fat kid. I've gone up and down for years.....I low carbed....I drank beer, I gained it back...yadda yadda yadda.....

So today I went to the beach with my wife and daughter, and celebrated my fat-ness one last time...kidding....

Tommorrow is the big day. I have started the Miralax preop from my doctor and its not so bad.....then again i can still sit in front of the computer at this moment...

I've talked about it with my immediate family, co workers and a few close friends....

So, I just wanted to thank you all for your site. Although I'm new to the site, I've gotten a lot of info.....

If any of you need anything from me, my email is givempills@aol.com

Thanks,

Bill:smile2:

Congratulation Bill!! Hope all goes well with your surgery. Post afterwards and let us all know how you are doing. I have a 3½ month old granddaughter. . . they are so sweet at that age.

If your wife is supportive to the procedure you have it made. Good luck tomorrow!!!

Hi Bill! I just had my Lapband done on 8-25-09 (Tuesday) & got out of the Hospital today. It wasn't bad at all! I did have some gas (referred) pain in my shoulder, but it went away. That's the only "bad" thing that happened, but it was doable. Good Luck to you & keep in touch....

Hey Bill, congrats!! I haven't been to my pre op appointment yet. What is this miralax diet your mentioning? My surgery date is September 30th.

God Bless your journey with the band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
