YAY! Surgery in 5 days!

Recommended Posts

In a newbie here, but have been surfing the posts for a long time. I am 24 years old and I have been morbidly obese since I was 8. I have tried so many diets over the years and lost tons of weight only to gain twice as much back. I had finally given up on dieting and stayed the same weight without gaining for a few years. My insurance started covering lap band in January, so I have been working on getting my surgery approved since then, now it's finally here:smile: I have lost 11lbs so far on my pre-op diet and another 9 before that. I can't believe I'm already 20lbs closer to my goal and I haven't even had the surgery yet. I'm so excited. I can't wait to start having more energy to chase around my 34 month old son.

Thanks everyone for your support! I am 8 days out from surgery now and feeling great. I made it to the 30 lb mark. I am so proud of myself for sticking to it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
