HELP! Looking for a PCP in East Bay Area

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I am desperate for a new Primary Care Physician in the East Bay Area. Specifically in Hayward, Fremont, Newark, Union City, Dublin, Pleasanton, Castro Valley, San Leandro.

I would like WLS but my PCP is against it. She says diet/exercise. Easy for her to say she is about a 100lbs!

I would like to find a new doctor, someone who is sensitive to weight issues and will hear me out. I have already been approved by a surgeon and my insurance company. Now, I just need to find a new PCP for my after care treatment.

Any suggestions?

I am not Kaiser so that won't help.

I have Anthem Blue Cross PPO. So far all the suggestions I have been given have been for doctors not accepting new patients. :)

Figured I would try here and see what you lovely people could do to help a girl out.

Take Care!:)

Hi there...I saw your post and as I am a "lovely" person, I would heartily recommend my PCP, Dr. Bala Annadurai. She practices out of Fremont, across from Washington Hospital. She is pro-LB and RNY....I have been a patient of hers and she knew of my long struggle with my weight. She was all for me getting LB and did many of the required tests in her office.

I would also heartily recommend Valley Care (Pleasanton) Bariatric Center. They deal with Anthem BC PPO ALL THE TIME and know exactly how to deal with the paperwork. My authorization went through very quickly and they didn't jerk me around. As long as your plan doesn't specifically exclude WLS (you should check this before starting anything), I think you'll find that Anthem BC PPO is very easy to work with. My authorizations for fills are turned around in less than a week! It's great!

My surgeon was Dr. Andrew Lee. He's a very nice man and made me feel comfortable with the process. His partner is Dr. Estakhri and I know of some people who aren't thrilled with her bedside manner. Dr. Lee is great and will take the time you need to answer any questions you have.

Please let me know if you decide to use either of them. I'd love to talk with you if you have any questions or concerns. Just PM me.

Take care,

Emily

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
