Need help!!!! How to hit calories so i can drop weight??!!!

Recommended Posts

SOOO...I had my 1st fill 2 weeks ago and am going for another on Sept. 1st. I only had restriction for less than a week. I eat very healthy and find it HARD to hit my 1000-1200 cals a day! I know this will only get harder when i get more restriction and eat less. I have not lost any weight since my fill. I know eating under the required calories can cause you to not lose weight also. Anyways...Last week was a crazy week and I ate fast food alot because I was never home. So i was prob hitting 1200 cals if not a LITTLE more. I DROPPED 4 lbs!! AND I WAS EATING BAD! My personal trainer friend said its cause my body was needing more cals to generate my metabolism. SO...if this is the case, how do I get my 1000-1200 cals but eating healhty and not fast food?? On a normal basis i get maybe 700 cals a day! I dont know what to do! Please help!

Yes I am at the same palce. I was banded on 6/26/09 and have lost 20.5 lbs. I got two fills in three weeks totalling 2.5 cc in a 10cm band...super frusterated. My doc says eat three meals a day 200 cals each no snacking....what the %$#? Anyway, I am following it to a T and I am exercising, ie walking at least 1 1/2 miles three times a week....not losing....need support

CRG2CNG- WOw your doctor is very conservative with your fills. I got 3 cc my 1st one and I wanted 4 cc. I wish he would have done 4cc. I needed it. So your doc said to only eat 600 cals total for the WHOLE DAY? That cant be good!! Thats prob why you're not losing too. Thats like half the required amount needed.

I am at the same point as you are. I go back to see my Dr. and the nutritionist this Thursday. I did what they told me to do this month, which was two Protein Shakes, and one small meal with a lot of Protein. I have followed this to the tee and I got on my scale this morning and burst into tears, I was up another 4 lbs. I do believe that my caloric intake is to small, but I do have trouble with the band. Some days things go down easy other day's nothing goes down, not even my Water. I have been through another upper GI, and the band is looking really good. My doctor has been rated as one of the top in this field, and he told me that he has had only two other patients that have had the same problem I am having. If I cannot get on the weight loss again they are going to do Gastric by-pass. AAAAHHHH!!!!!

I am going to try and eat more to get my calories up and see if this helps. Good luck to you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
