Carbination....

I drank a beer. Yes, that is right, I did it. 4 months out of surgery and I decided to tip one back. Took my sweet time with it, had no issues that I know of. It did take me an hour before I finished it. Tasted good!

Anyone else take a walk on the wild side....

My paperwork said to wait for 6 months. I am a bad bandster.

Don't plan on picking up my ol' Diet Coke addiction again. But a beer every now and again....I'll do that. Anyone else???

I accidentally drank some beer once, lol no really, I was at the grocery store and they had recently redone it and part of the redo was to add a beer cave. They were doing taste of Miller 64 and I didn't think about it till after I had a thimble full.....lol.

I don't really miss the diet coke once in a while I think mmmmm X and a diet coke sounds good but it's just a passing thought.

I have to fight my urge for diet pepsi at least a couple times a week. I have had a sip of someones once in awhile when it gets too bad, but haven't had any beer yet...not too big of a beer drinker though.

I was a diet soda junkie and I kicked the habit however I have had some beer and soda in mixed drinks. Its not a regular thing but I haven't had any issues. I know I don't always make the best choices but the crazy thing I actually feel more "normal" about my food than ever before.

If I told you how many Corona's and Lime I had at the beach this week I'd have to kill you LOL. My doc says it's fine after 12 weeks.

I am so glad each of you responded. To be honest, I have really felt bad about my choice, after I got a different response on a seperate board. Actually I felt really dumb for drinking a beer. The other forum is more strict and I felt it.

Anyway, thanks guys, I don't feel so dump or judged. :frown:

Oh honey, I'm drinking a Pyriamid Apricot Ale right now and it's soooooooooo good. No guilt here so you shouldn't have any either. My doc told me that the no carbonation rule was just to keep people from drinking soda and beer and after you're healed it won't cause any damage except weight gain. Enjoy life!

With my docs, it's fine to drink carbonation after 1 year. And the main reason I've heard to avoid it is due to the calories of regular soda, which apparently many people don't realize contributes such a significant number of calories.

Don't feel guilty about a moderate of beer of soda!

My doctor is anti-carbonation but I've given in and started drinking diet soda again. Not like I used to, but once or twice a week. It doesn't bother me at all. I certianly don't keep it in the house or anything, but I will indulge occasionaly.

Ugh.... I am a total beer gal and actually wondered if I could deal with the surgery because my doctor is SUPER strict about carbonation. I caved this weekend and had one beer. It took forever for me to drink and I got lots of burping (classy, right?) hahaha. It is the only carbonation I've had since my surgery in April. My doc is so strict he says I can never use a straw bc it carbnonates everything. Bummer :scared2:

Tell me that beer tasted good! Mine sure the heck did! It took me a while to drink it too. I'd a loved to just tip it back and drink a good drink, but figured I had better not. No straws huh....well can't say I have used to many of them any way....good to know though.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
