I was told that if you don't loose most of the weight you are striving for by the 8 month mark, chances are not good for you to reach your goal weight. Any Truth in this. I had surgery at the end of May, want to loose 130 and have only lost 47. I had two fills, have very little restriction. I am going to keep going, but weight loss is VERY slow....less than 1 pound per week. Can anyone out there let me know how long it took to get to your goal weight?

I'm not at goal, but am curious where you got this information from. If I were you I wouldn't listen to it. You've lost 47 so far and that's amazing. Everyone's bodies are different - some people are fast losers and have lots 100+ pounds in as little as 6 months. Some people are slow losers and have done 30 pounds in a year. To me that's still an accomplishment because I wouldn't be able to lose that and keep it off if I didn't have the band.

As far as your own weight loss - are you doing your job so the band can do its job? Continue to make healthy food choices, correct portion sizes, and exercise regularly.

First of all, congratulations on your weight loss, that is awesome! Secondly, who told you that? I'm not a doctor but the purpose of having the lap band is to give yourself time to lose the weight. My surgeon has set my goal for 3 years. 30 pounds a year. He also told me that lots of people will surpass that and I already have BUT he stated there are also people who lose more gradually. And by the way, there is nothing wrong with that. I was always told that my weight loss should be slow. I agree with unforgettable. This band is a tool to help you eat healthy, exercise and be an all around better person.

In my opinion (and I'm no expert), setting too big a goal just sets you up for failure and then this band is just like a fad diet that I'm sure we've all tried before and failed at. You've done a great job so far, just keep up the good work and don't worry about losing so much at one time.

Thanks for the replies....I got this information from a nurse and someone who knew someone who got the band. Another person I know, who had bypass, also told me this. I am hanging in there and look forward to getting to my sweet spot. thanks everyone.

My surgeon said with the band I should lose 60% of the weight within a year by just following the plan. If I put more into it, even with just walking my success will be greater.

I am only 2 months post op and already down 32 lbs.

I am 1 year out and have lost 52 pounds, I have stalled big time. I have not lost any weight in 7 months??? I work out 1 hour every day and I swim 3 times a week. I am scheduled on Oct 15th to go in to have that test with where you drink and the doc can watch to see the restriction. I am happy with the lost, but I am concerned that I have stalled for so long.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
