All day long I have been having a terrible pain in my tummy. I passed gas and felt a little better. I came home from work and hand a small sandwich. I have been in terrible pain. I can not walk or breath in deep. The pain is in the middle part of my tummy. If I pass gas the band does not go away. It is a pain that radiates. Could this just be gas pain? Could my band have slipped? I did notice that it started after having some mini snickers ( I know bad). I have not had any kind of chocolate since my surgery. Could this be the cause? GOOD LORD IT HURTS!

Do you still have your gall bladder? I only say this because my pain was in the middle of my tummy. It hurt through to my back. Call your dr. and have them check you out.

Fordgal88,

thanks for replying. I got up in walked around a little in passed some gas and it felt a little better. It was a terrible pain. Who the heck knew gas could be that painful. Well....i am assuming it was the gas because the pain is gone now. Is gas present during gallbladder attacks?

Hi:

I had my gallbladder out 9 months after being banded. It's quite common to have issues with your gallbladder after losing alot of weight.

My gallbladder pain would come after eating. What my doctor said is that your gallbladder produces bile to help your food move through your intestines. So, if you eat something fatty it produces alot of bile and if there are stones or a blockage in your gallbladder you will have some pain. Some people have stones and never have pain. My pain would come after eating something spicy or fatty. I had to give up low calorie hot cinnamon candy for a while because the pain would kill.

I know that you shouldn't eat fatty stuff, but if the pain comes again after you've eaten something fatty or high in calorie it could be your gallbladder.

Best to call your doctor if it comes back again.

Sue

Thanks Sue. I am kind of worried now. I suffer from Ulcerative Colitis and let me tell you this pain was worse than the UC pain. I am glad it is gone now. The only thing that would make the pain go away was me bending over. I do think it was a gallbladder attack. I must say that my diet is mostly meat. I need to add veggies and fruit. I do not want to have my gallbladder removed. Maybe making some adjustments do my diet will help? Also, my BM have not been frequent. For someone who has UC I don't have BMs often. Sometimes they amount to nothing. I know this is TMI. I will call my doctor in the morning and let him know whats up. I also think I visit with my nutritionist is in order.

Gallbladder attacks often come with gas and often you will notice your stools are different - pale maybe, you could have diarrhoea etc.

then again, i suspect my gallbladder has been giving me a nudge or two lately and i've had no gas. Its different for everyone.

The only thing that makes me think it might have just been gas for you is that you could bend over and make it go away. The pain I've been having, you do instinctively curl around abdominal pain as it tends to relieve it but NOTHING will make it abate until it suddently goes away on its own.

Thats the way my pain was. Nothing would make it go away. I was literally on all fours in my bathroom floor rocking. It was the worst pain I had ever experienced. It would last a few hours and then go away. Almost like it had never happened. The operation to have it removed was simple. I had it done on a Thursday and photographed a wedding on Saturday. The surgeon told me that it was quite inflamed and full of stones. He said if not treated you can have a stone make it to your pancreas and make you very very ill. Just something to think about. I hear now a lot of surgeons are taking out the gall bladder when they place the band. I think that is a wise move.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
