Need HELP!!!

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery 8/14/08. I am down 50 pounds. The past 6 months I have maintained my weight but haven't lost anything. Granted, my food choices haven't been the greatest either. I am feeling like a failure and really need some encouragement and ideas on how to get back on board with my band. Any suggestions would be great, I dont want to gain the weight back...HELP!!!:)

sounds like you know where the problem is...if you aren't making the best food choices, the band isn't going to do all the work for you. It's a partnership - you need to make sure you are doing your job, so the band can do it's job. You've lost 60 pounds and that is AMAZING! Get back to eating healthier foods, making good portion choices, and get to exercising to really kick start your metabolism. Also, if you don't feel enough restriction it may be time for a fill again.

Feeling like a failure is only going to make things worse. Just acknowledge it for what it is and move on. You can do it - you've already lost an amazing amount of weight.

Good luck!

Don't look at the last 6 months, look at the last year. In the last year you are EXACTLY where you should be with your weight loss-my Dr. has a goal of 50lbs a year for average weight loss.

WHO CARES if you haven't lost any weight in the last 6 months, WHO CARES if your choices haven't been the greatest? Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep fighting! You MUST make better food choices and get back into an exercise regime, but other than that you're right on track!!

There should be nothing but accomplishment and goals in your mind and a sense of "I can do this". At least you didn't gain any weight back right? That's a WIN in my book! I equate no weight gain like this (I'm a Virgo..we do this ) If I went to Vegas for a weekend and brought $500, and came home with $500 I WON!!! So, by starting the last 6 months the same as you are now, You're WAY ahead.

Don't let this veer you off course in any way. You should let it motivate you and get you re-energized to get this band working again. YOU CAN DO IT!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
