I can't keep anything down..I'm freaking out.

Recommended Posts

I have had my band for over 2 years, and usually I could eat something, like a yogurt or a piece of fruit. Well in the last 2 months, since my last fill, I can't eat anything.

I am barfing everything..I even barfed Water.

I feel like passing out a lot, and I am really tired. I don't know what to do, I was thinking about getting my band removed, because I used to eat way too much, and now I am struggling to drink Water.

I also have the worst heartburn that I have had in a long time, I wake up and try to drink water, and get this horrible heartburn, and I have to barf the water back up. I have taken Prilosec, and Tums for my heartburn, and the Prilosec seems to make me barf everything, and Tums only work for a few minutes.

I am going back to my Dr. soon, but he seems to have this "everything is fine" attitude.

Maybe I just need to be slightly unfilled?

I just want to be able to eat something again. I have some Protein shake stuff (disgusting) and it seems to go down ok if I pace myself.

Anyone ever experience this? any ideas on how to stop this heartburn?

These sound like classic symptoms of being overfilled. Don't leave it as it can lead to all sorts of problems including a slip. Go back and get some fill out. you need to be able to eat proper food for the band to be able to work properly.

I agree with Elcee...but don't panic about an unfill. Even something as small as .2cc can make all the difference in the world in how you feel, what you can eat, etc. CALL THE DOC and go get this addressed.

Please call your doctor and insist that he see you today! You shouldn't let these kinds of things linger because it can do more damage that way. Also, being dehydrated is very dangerous - can even kill a person.

I hope you feel better soon.

Let us know how you make out with your doctor.

Try being deployed overseas and going through this...me too, I have a hard time keeping anything down. I have to convince myself NOT to throw up. Even Water, or Vitamin water. I find myself overindulgeing and then here it comes. I am trying to get home as quick as I can to see the doctor. Take advantage of being right there..Ironically, when I got the band, no weight loss. First two fills, no weight loss. This third one they did in February, I was like ok, this works. And then BOOM, i got deployed. Now I cannot eat (3 months) and am 7000 miles away. But I have lost alot of weight. You guys keep posting because it helps me to understand what is happening, please. I am trying to come home ASAP.

This is my question. Is vomiting and pb'ing the same. i was told to avoid vomiting at all costs. But I thought vomiting is bringing up the acids and all from original stomache and pb. was just :ohmy:bringing up what is in the pouch??? After my last fill (first one that seems i really have restriction) I have acid reflux . Also when something gets stuck, if it doesn't come up, I help it too, to get relief. Sometimes)... I thought if it was still in the pouch, it was ok, since I read threads that alot of people write what they eat and then say (it came back up) etc...I have been putting off getting an unfill, thinking it would go away. I am at my goal and am happy with where I am, but don't want to gain it back. I do ok when I really watch and cut everything small, I get a gurgle or burp after eating a small amount and know if I keep eating it will end up coming up...sometimes the slime feels like you are not getting air unless it comes up. I also think after PB ing I don't give it a chance to heal.. What are anyone's thoughts. I think I might need a slight unfill. After reading about the slips, and erosion, I am scared. thanks Judy

I agree about the hot liquid in the morn. I have trouble getting anything cold down in the am...Last few morns I have had yogurt with Kashi in it and it has worked fine. For weeks I would just have coffee or tea till about 11 or 12.. I had a nexium last night and that really helped. I feel like I need one now to, and I haven't Pb ed in 2 days. Judy

I haven't had my surgery yet but the nutritionist told me once you have a fill you need to go back to clears/liquids for 48 hours so your stomach can heal.

I agree with several other posters who said you had too much of a fill. Call your doctor and ask to be seem immediately. Don't let this slide for weeks or months if possible.

Just wanted to say that it makes me angry when I see that someone has to wait days and days for an appointment when they are having issues with throwing up. I am very fortunate to have a doctor whose practice makes themselves available 24/7 and if you're having an issue they never make you wait for days.

I hope you feel better soon.

You need to see your doc ASAP!! All of the symptoms you are describing are NOT normal. If you cannot keep water down that is very serious. I don't mean to scare you...but it is highly important you see your doctor. I hope you find answers (whether it be an unfill or x-ray to check your band) and get relief soon!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
