Like to know how many might like this idea for a forum area...

I like a lot of things about LBT. Often, however, things can get so serious and/or melancholy when we share our problems and concerns.

That's all important, but woudn't it be great if there was a "lighter side" section where people could read/post things like the following:

A) funny anecdotes

 funny comic strips

C) "chicken soup" cheer-up posts

D) fun poking fat/skinny jokes (nothing offensive of course)

E) etc.

Having been a "class clown" all my life, I recently posted this funny pic on Facebook and I wanted to post it here on LBT somewhere but couldn't find just the right area so this lighter side thingy came to mind.

This pic had the caption given to my facebook friends: "As you can see this LapBand tool is really reducing my size."

The moral of the story is. If the weight is not coming off fast enough, don't fret about it and simply consider Photoshop and hope "The Law of Attraction" will kick in!

I used to be an active member of a low carb board and it had a section such as this.....it was called "the playground" and boy did we have some laughs!

Yes it's a good idea. We do have a couple of off topic areas but they seem to be aimed at rants and raves more than fun stuff.

I think there is an LBT suggestions forum. Maybe you should post your idea there as I think that is the area that Alex looks at.

LOL! I really really like the "playground" idea and agree. Things here ARE intense it seems like, either the "I climbed the mountain!" type (with appropriate background music, tears all around, etc) or the "The mountain FELL on me" type (ditto ditto) but life is rarely that absolute. I vote YES on this proposition!

LOL love the photo!

I think this is a great idea. Especially since I recently had gall bladder surgery and had some bad post-surgery depression. I'm already planning for things to brighten my day for after I get my band so I DON'T get so depressed after surgery again. (looking for funny movies, etc)

Having something to cheer you up really makes life so much easier.

We could easily start a new section in the Social Groups (cp User).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
