fill number 2(stuck food)

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 7/16 and had my first official fill yesterday. I received 2.2 cc's during surgery and another 2.2 cc's in my band yesterday. A total of 4.4 cc's in a 10cc band and I finally feel a difference.

My weight has been stagnant for about 4 weeks now, so I really look forward to seeing the change. I have to do liquids for 48 hours and then mushies for 24 hours before progressing back to solid foods. I have never had a 'stuck' or 'sliming' incident, so I think that I am chewing things well. I'm terrified of getting anything stuck.

I had an issue after my 2nd fill. I have a 10CC band (I believe) and they put in 2 CC on my first fill and 1 CC on my second fill. I ate something the day after my fill and didn't feel great, I felt ok, but not great, that was a Thurs night/Fri. On Saturday, I couldn't eat more then 3 bites of solid food w/out having pain and then throwing up. I spoke w/my surgeon's nurse on Monday and she agreed w/me that my band was too tight... So I went in and he took out 1/2 CC, and I was fine.. it's not an exact science... so that could be the problem. I go for my 3rd fill on Sept 9th. Wish me luck!

Falafel's don't like me any more :-( I just had lunch with some friends from out of town, and I should have gone with my first instinct, grilled chicken and Pasta with feta cheese, but ordered just an appetiser knowing I'd never make a dent in the pasta dish, but I could only get down 1.5 falafel's - they were just too dry eventhough I dipped them. I thought I'd be able to chew them enough... BUT I'm so happy that the band is working like it should and I didn't actually get STUCK in front of them!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
