Should you eat before a fill?

What is the best way to get a fill? The last couple I've had haven't helped that much.

I have instructions to not eat anything past 10am the day of my fill--they do all the fills between 2-4pm.

I have around 9-9.5cc's in, I think, a 10cc band and really cant tell all that much.

Pouch isn't stretched, it was checked under fluro.

I understand it can often take several fills before some people feel restriction.

My surgeon tells me nothing but Water for 6 hours before a fill.

I'm allowed to eat and drink right up until the fill. It's after that I have to be on liquids then soft foods

My surgeon directed me not to eat or drink at least 4 hours before a fill. I had my first fill and didn't eat all day before hand. I was afraid my food would not be all the way digested and I wanted the best results possible. I didn't want anything in my pouch when she filled.

That makes good sense to me, but I had my Protein Shake and my latte just before my fill and it did not seem to effect it. I did not have solid food even though I was told I could eat as usual. I don't eat solid food in the am anyway and had my fills early afternoon
