Help! What am I doing wrong?

Recommended Posts

Help! I dont understand what im doing wrong. Am I failing my band or is my band failing me. I had my surgery July 13, 2009. Pre surgery Lost:thumbup: 15 lbs. Post surgery Ive:thumbup: lost 15 lbs. I dont get my first fill until September 18 because the the doctors office is so backed up.

Any how I was doing really great at first, wasnt hungry at all. Didnt really have an appetite. Following the diet was great as far as the liquids phase goes. Then as soon as I started to eat regular food. I lost one pound one week and the next week I :scared2: gained 4 pounds and havent been able to get it off. What am I doing wrong?

I Know I seem to be having a small issue with drinking while eating and getting enough fluids in but for the most part im doing ok. I dont go over 1,200 calories but some time have more than 80 grams of carbs in a day. Is that the problem? Im hungry before I should be after a meal. I dont want to fail my band but somethings definitely not going right.

Someone please help me and give me some advice. I'm really freaking out about this.:cursing::):cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing:

First of all too many carbs. Secondly, you are still healing and weight gain does happen to some people so don't lose faith. Talk to your surgeon and find out what you can do to help with the problem.

Losing 15 pounds in less than 6 (7) weeks is great! Since you probably have little to no restriction, you are doing this on pure willpower. The time between surgery and your first fill is the time for healing. You do the best you can re: eating (and following your surgeon's guidelines) but your band isn't really doing anything for you at this point in time.

You will lose it. Give it time. You have no fill right now and it is hard. The willpower is hard b/c you are hungry but you aren't wanting to eat but your stomach is telling you to eat. I am in this stage right now too. I haven't gained yet but I have only been eating solid foods since Thursday. I get my first fill on September 3 so I am ready. The doctor told me on Thursday that I might gain and it will be hard to not eat a lot b/c I have no restricition right now. Just give it time. It will come. You have done great pre-op and post-op so far. Hang in there. I know you can do it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
