We have a FABULOUS support group in Southern California; I'ts called the "Original Southern California Bandsters" (OSCB for short) and i would like to invite anyone in the area to join us! We meet once a month, usually in OC at someones home, on the 3rd sunday of the month, from 1pm to 4 pm or so.

We also have an on line listserv board on yahoo groups that you may subscribe to at URL: OSCB-subscribe@Yahoogroups.com and every sunday evening from 7:00 pst to whenever the last diehard logs off we have a scheduled on-line chat.

In our group, we are truly MORE than friends; we are family! there is always someone ready to be there for you whenever and whatever you may need!

We are also the group that hosts the Tiajuana BASH every year - the first, biggest and (IMHO) best of all the bashes!

Our membership includes bandsters at goal for long term maintenance, pregnant bandsters, "experienced" bandsters still on their journeys, "Newbie" bandsters, pre-bandsters, and bandsters just beginning their research - lots of experience to draw from in every phase of banded life. We have members from San Diego, Bakersfield, San Bernardino, Riverside, Hesperia (Me), as well as from the LA/OC metroplex. We even have 2 members in Las Vegas, one in Maine, one in North Carolina, one in Alaska, and our longest distance member - Shawn Tom in the US Marshall Islands!

Don't be shy - sign up now and come to the meetings - we'd LOVE to meet you and make YOU part of our family!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
