Hello..My name is Tina I am a 38 year old wife and mother of 3 very needy children. I was 18 when i had my first child and i can never remember me ever being #1, always had too many others to take care of. Well now it is my turn. I have always been heavy I graduated high school at 190lbs. Yes i did all the fad diets and they worked for taking off 20lbs here and there but the weight always found its way back to me. Last year i was giving weight watchers $13.00 a week to watch me gain weight every week and I was starving to boot. I found myself depressed and discusted amung alot of back pain. Working in the medical field i saw numerous people who have had bariatric surgery with all these great success stories. So I wanted to be one of them. I researched and checked all my options and found the band was for me.. On March 18, 2003 I had my surgery a bit more than 4 months ago. I weighed in at 228lbs and 4 months later I am 188..Thats 40lbs..Amazingly. My depression and back pain disapeared with the pounds.. For once I feel like there is a cure, and i got it. I am cured. Though i work hard at it and I comply 100% which is the key. I had my first fill mid July so i am loosing again I plateued for a month. Well good luck to all. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
