I can see why people cheat....

doesn't make it right...I'm in no way condoning it, and it's not in me to do it.....but I SWEAR, a wonton spoke to me tonight when I had a little broth. It opened it's salty little doughy lips and called to me! And, no...I've been off the percs for a day. I admit to chuckling when someone mentioned licking garlic bread last week....well I'd liked to have licked the inside of that wonton.

Ah well....next month I'll actually be able to eat a bit of that inside meat if I must.

What food spoke to you towards the end of your clear or full liquid stage? I dont mean did you cheat either....no offense but I dont care to hear those stories!

Ah...pizza. It called to me, whispered to me, SHOUTED at me. The funny thing is, before my surgery, I could have cared less about pizza! Now that I am free to eat regular foods, it hasn't been a big craving either!

Peanut Butter, chili dogs, ice cream and thai food...So I bought some of the PB2, powdered peanut butter, which I could add to Soups, but the two real food items I got during the mushy stage and pureed them so I could have the taste! You could plan that with the wonton? Ice cream I did take a taste or two, but not full fledge bowl or whatever (maybe I'm kidding myself).

Lol!!I remember Being on my pre-op diet and sucking the salt of of this Cajun trail mix just for something with actual taste. I'd suck off the salt and spices and spit them back out. It was gross but it stopped me from going off the deep end. And Nfl1 I'm sitting at work trying to convince myself to have a healthy dinner. Now all I can think about are chilli dogs! LMAO horrible and unhealthy but taste incredible

Haha, I was about 5 days post-op and I stood over a pot of very yummy looking chicken Soup that my mom made. I looked at it longingly for about 7 minutes and watched as others came and got some, sat down, and ate it. I finally picked up a piece of the most heavenly looking piece of chicken and started eating it. I chewed and chewed and chewed...then, spit it out. Spitting out food was probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, when it comes to food, in my life! Dammit, now that I can have chicken I really want that piece of chicken back...of course not already chewed though.

Please tell me you put the pieces of trail mix back in the bag and passed it off to someone else :sneaky:. No, just kidding! I'm sitting here on the eve of my pre-op and trying to think what else I want to eat. I'm not hungry. But I still think, hmmm, what else should I get in before bed? Probably just a SF Fudgesicle. Oh well.

I do have a b'day party on Sun. That cake better not start talking to me! I'll probably have nightmares about it . But, I want a new life...so no cake, no chocolate fountain, no wine....crap! Is white wine a clear liquid? :o

Take care everyone!

Just a little advice from someone who KNOWS....Never, never, never, eat the cake! It takes about 1 min. and the vomiting starts. You might as well have soaked white bread in milk and ate it whole. Major pain and vomiting! My nurse said if you have to taste... frosting is way better.

I was banded in March of 2009. I just hit 5 months banded and I am down 80 pounds. You can do this, it is worth it! You will all get to the point where you can eat soon. There are many websites that have diet foods that taste good and are low calorie, including pizza.

I craved hot dogs. I could smell them. I wanted a hot dog burned on the grill covered with mustard. AndI hardly ever ate hotdogs before.

I eat a lot of Protein. Ground chicken patties, tuna, I keep mornings more liquid as I tend to have more restriction in the morning. I don’t think it is as much what I eat, but how much. I work really hard to make sure I am not eating more then a cup. Sometimes you don’t feel full and I tell myself to stop. I wait, and the fullness comes. I really do eat very slowly now and it works. Don’t under eat or you may stop loosing weight ( I had that issue too). It will happen; I really have worked at this. Even in the first 6 week, before the first fill, I made myself stop eating because I found out once time I could eat more then I should. I did not want to fail. Don’t be discouraged 40 pounds is great! I may have started out heavier than you. Best of luck!

Broccoli calls me all the time. When I was on my liquid phase I was craving veggies! Now that I am on regular food my band doesn't like broccoli. I tried pureed, chopped, stalks chew to mush, doesn't matter my band rebels! lol

I am not craving any junk food at all yet which I am very thankful for. I guess I ate so much of it before being banded I am living off the surplus still stored in my body!!!

Bacon, my husband was fixing it for the children the other day and I swear it whispered "come on you chew me to mush... I know you want me" while I was sitting downstairs. and I almost went upstairs but I had some sugar free Jello and sat down and ate that instead... but yeah I can't wait till the non-solid food stage is over just went to mushies two days ago.

Wait until you have had a few fills and pizza and chicken alfredo pasta causes you to have so much pain you don't think about it again.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
